Could Shauna possibly work as a nickname for Siobhan?

It is a stretch. I like Siobhan, but not Shaunna.

I could see it working, but I prefer the spelling Shauna. With one n. The two n's next to the u looks kind of weird.

It just doesn't sound like a nickname to me. It might get further shortened to Shaun--which works for me, personally, but I don't know about you.

if someone's name was spelled Shauvan & they said they had the nn Shaun or Shauna, i wouldn't think twice. i guess that's because i'm not thrilled with the spelling Siobhan, even if it is the 'correct' spelling.

I don't think so. Siobhan is such a pretty name, and I dislike the name Shaunna.

It's counterintuitive - it's as many syllables as Siobhan anyway. Most Siobhans I've met tend to go by their full name or get 'Shiv'.

It doesn't really work for me. What about Ana? My friend goes by Siobhie, but that irks me kinda.

I think it could work, but I actually like Shauna as a name on its own, and I don't really care much for Siobhan.

Siobhan is pronounced like Shi-von (or something like that) right?
Shauna seems a stretch...but maybe that's just because I don't like the name.
On the other hand, if you can get Jack out of John and Libby out of Elizabeth, you can certainly get Shauna out of Siobhan ;)

Doesn't make sense to have a nickname the same syllables as the name itself.

I love the name Siobhan, but I think the nickname Shauna kind of ruins it. I had a philosophy professor once named Siobhan, and she was amazing.

I have a close friend named Siobhan, she goes by "Shiv" or "Sh" or "Shiva" or "Von"
