Just thought I'd throw this out there

What do you all think of the name "Evar" I'm not sure where it came from (I'm from Alabama) but I knew a lady named this and then the lady's granddaughter had it as a middle name. I think it's kinda cute...The older lady pronounced hers as "E-var" long e sound. The granddaughter pronounces hers as "ever"
Has anyone else ever heard this name? Anyone know the meaning/origin?

I think it's kinda cute...

I have a really geeky friend from high school who ALWAYS said that, as in "BEST. THING. EVAR." And used "EVAR" a lot in place of "ever" to be a dork ;p And therefore, that's what I think of when I hear that. It makes me giggle.

I used to know someone called Eva, and it was prenounced like Evar (ever). I think its ok, maybe for a middle name.

Definately not my style. It might be a great middle name though. :)

There is an Irish name, Emer, that is (apparently) pronounced like this.

My book notes, "Emer was the beloved of Cuchulainn. According to an early tale, she alone of the women of Ireland was wooed by Cuchulainn, 'for she had the six gifts; the gift of beauty, the gift of voice, the gift of sweet speech, the gift of needlework, the gift of wisdom, and the gift of chastity'."

Well, I know I personally have always considered needlework one of the essentials! ;)

hehe, like my extended family from Connecticut. My little brother couldn't understand why they kept correcting him when he tried to pronounce their dog's name just like they did- Doo Dar, they said
"No, it's Doo Dar, like zippity-do-dar"
..."Ohhh, Doo Dah?"
..."Yeah, Doo Dar"
I always get a kick out of telling that story. I noticed when we were in Rhode Island a lot of people had that same accent as well.
