[identity profile] ilovekeithurban.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I go to a high school that is not...ethnically diverse and where caucasion is very much the minority. Anyway, there are some very kre8tyve names at this school so I thought I'd post some.

Shanqella
Soniqua
Genesis
Nefertiti
and my favorite...LLewellynn...pronounced Lou Ellen. Oh yeah, they went there.

On a side note...
I'm in LOVE with the names Lily (with Abigail as a middle name) and Violet, both definitely as first names. However, is the "flower" theme too noticeable?

No, i think Lily and Violet are both lovely. A bit twee... but not too bad.

Llewellynn is a real name, unless you're making fun of it because they added a couple extra letters?

Now, I can't speak Welsh, and I know it's a real name, but isn't it not pronounced like "Lou Ellen?"

It's kinda like Lou Ellen, yeah, except the "Ll" is really hard to describe. Try to say "ll", "th" and "cl" at the same time and you might be close. Also, the last syllable is closer to LIN than LEN/LUN. As it's one name it flows together quicker than Lou-Ellen too.

Haha, no probs; on a girl it is pretty weird! I never heard that before :)

It's a traditional name in my family; my brother, father and grandfather all have/had it as a middle name.

If Llewellyn is on a boy, then that's a pretty traditional Welsh name. If it's on a girl then that's just bizarre.

Nefertiti is horrendously pretentious, Genesis is silly, and the other two are just tacky as hell.

I love Violet as well :) I don't think I'd personally use two floral names, but it's not horrendous or anything. They're both pretty names.

I love the name Lily!
And I primarily think "colour" before I think "flower" when I hear Violet.

Llewellynn is totally legit, although I'd question this particular spelling (I've only ever seen Llewelyn before). I believe it's Welsh?

Yup, it's Welsh. I've seen Llewelyn and Llewellyn but never the two Ns before. And never on a girl!

I love Lily and Violet both, but together, yeah, the flower theme would be pretty noticeable.

She became a female ruler when her hubby went to a monotheistic sun-worshiping kick.
