I honestly love my name.. Kimber Leigh... (yes, they are seperate and Leigh is my middle name..)  However, I absolutely hate it when people refuse to call me by the correct name..  Even after I've introduced myself and politely corrected them when they got it wrong.. (how hard is it really to just call me Kimber??)  I've put together a list of all the names I get called.. (sometimes on a daily basis)

Kim
Kimberly
Kimba
Kimbra
Amber
Kemper
Ginger
Timber
Komber (this is a new one i just got today - they actually spelled my name this way on the envelope..and it was hand written so, not a typo.)

feel free to comment and share the incorrect names you get called..

Your name is so cool! It reminds me of the Jem cartoons from the 80's because her sister was named Kimber.

People call me Kelly, Kerri, Katie, Kaley, Kallie, Korey, Karney, Harley, Karen, etc. The worst was when my 8th grade history teacher called me Hayley for pretty much the entire year.

Well, I have two fold complaint on my name. My first name doesn't get mistaken often (Its Elizabeth, though I do get the occasional Elisabeth, which funnily enough I much prefer but whatever) but I do HATE HATE HATE the fact that NO ONE can just call me Elizabeth. My name is Liz, Lizzy, Beth, Betty, Libby, Eliza, Liza... ANY nickname besides just calling me Elizabeth. Drives me nutty.

My last name? Oh lord. (It is Hughson.) I get... Houston, Howston, Hugginson. Hewgsin. My personal favorite, this last weekend my friend of 8 years spelled it Houghston. Yea. Poke me in the eye it drives me CRAZY. It is Hugh son. Like Jack-son or John-son but just Hugh-son. Phonetic people, PHONETIC. *gruf*

Kimber, by the way, was my best friend in third grades name. I called her Kimber but the teacher called her Kim-bear for the entire year. She wanted to start a revolution and call the teacher Mrs. Sex-tone (her last name was Sexton.)

I get Lizzy, Lissie, Susie, Ruthie (apparently I talk like Scooby Doo with a lisp)... oh, and once I got Lassie. I suppose Lucy is a difficult name to enunciate.

I'm Sarah Amy, and I hate it :( I mean, Sarah, I love love love Amy.

I don't get much variation on Sarah, but my surname is a shocker! How hard is it to spell "Wild" ???

Wyld, Wilde, Wylde. W I L D !!!!

I get Martha, Michelle, and Maria. My name is Melissa! I think one time I got a totally different name like Jessica or something. Obviously this person wasn't paying attention. Let's not start on my last name. I can think about 4 different times when someone plugged on any random Spanish last name because they knew I was Spanish!

My mother was evil and decided to name me K'lyssa (Cuh-liss-uh). It's bad enough that no one can pronounce it, but no can really spell it either. I get called Kailissa, Kaylissa, Klissa, and just about every variation under the Sun and it gets spelled Kylssa, Ky'lssa, Klissa, and all other types of ridiculous ways.

My name's Heather and I've been called Stephanie by more than one person. Apparently I look like a Stephanie. Once, I was wearing a jacket with my name on it when it happened.

My name is Stephanie. In elementary school, I got Tiffany a lot. Now I get Bethany, sometimes even Beth. I assume the latter is just an overly-familiar customer trying to come off as my bud or something, but it strikes me as pretty obnoxious. Even if my name WERE Bethany, did I TELL you to call me Beth?

I've also had a few people who don't really know me call me Stephy. I don't mind that, but if I don't know you, don't call me by a pet name. It's not cute.

This is sort of unrelated, but my entire life, I've been mistaken for a Jennifer. More often than anything, if someone can't remember my name, they'll call me Jennifer. When I correct them, they always say, "Really? You look like a Jennifer."

My name is Stephanie and I've been called Heather by accident sooooooo many times.

But then, that's my sister's name, and I went to high school with a Heather whom people thought I looked a lot like, so sometimes even people who knew me would say, "Heath--I mean, Steph...sorry, you guys really do look alike."

I get called Kathy. haaaaaaaaaaaaaate that. I also think that my name's pronounced with 2 syllables and not 3 (Kathryn vs Katherine) but no-one else really notices.

Thusly, in public, it's Kate. Unless I tell you otherwise.

I don't have this problem too much (I'm an Allison--the only thing I hate is when people call me "Alice"). But I lived in Ireland for awhile, and some of the names there threw some of us Americans.

I had a friend called "Podge" (I believe it's a nickname for Padraig), and my dad persisted in calling him "Pudge" when he visited.

My flatmate was "Grainne," and it took my other (American) flatmate weeks to stop calling her "Groin-ya." Very unfortunate for both :)

Hmm...the only thing I get is Clara when my name is Claire. Its weird becaus Clara is less popular than Claire, but little kids mess it up all the time. I don't mind at all though I think Clara is quite pretty.

I'm Melissa Too

Yes to all of those!! Where in the world does the Martha thing come from!? Still haven't figured that one out

and My cousin is Michelle and she also gets called Martha and Melissa

and Melissa gets shortened to Lisa (i hate), Mel (i hate more), and Missy (i hate the most)

I used to go by Mel in HS but not anymore. The ony people who call me Mel are my mom and sometimes my brothers. Missy is THE worst possibly nickname. I hate it to death! A friend of mine in HS had a dog named Missy and I told her its a perfect name for a pet, not for a girl! Now I just go by Meli but I don't like it when people spell it Melly. A former co-worker used to call me Liss or Lissy and I liked it but it never stuck!

Oh and one time when I corrected someone and told them my name was Melissa and not Michelle, they said, "Oh but you look like a Michelle." Okay so let me start calling people what I think they look like ..... :P

I'm Rebecca or Becca. I get Bella, which is fine, that's my nickname, and Becky (which makes me rear back and slap people) quite often. I get Jessica, Mary, Lydia, and Reba equally as much. People always spell my name Rebeka, Rebekah, Rebeckah, Rebeca, and Rebeccah. It's annoying but I'll live. Oh, what's rich though is that my neighbor calls me by my dogs name. "BINKY!! BINKY!! Can you watch my cat for the weekend!?"

I'm Katherine, and I go by Kayt (Kate). I can't stand Katie, Kat, Kathy, Katelyn, and oddly enough, Megan. I seem to look like a Megan. I can understand the Katie thing because I spell Kate weird (long story), but I don't understand the people that call me Kat. I really really hate Kat and Kathy the most. I don't mind Katherine, and I prefer Kayt.

My sister's name is Amelia. She gets called Amy, Anna, and Amanda. Seems so silly, as it's not a really out there name.

My name is Patricia Ashley.. I go by Ashley but I get Alisha, Alicia, Sasha (WTF?), Amilia, Amy, Leigh, Ash. I also get phone calls for Pat, Patty, Trisha, Ricia, Peggy, and Peg. I can't even begain to know where some of these come from.. Sasha when I tell you my name is Ashley.

My name is Phoebe. When people read it, they pronounce it phonetically 95% of the time. FOE-BEE or FOE-E-BEE.
When I tell people my name for the first time they usually think I'm saying Beebee or Ebee, but somehow once in a while they think I'm saying Amy or Annie.
Stupid people spell my name Febe or Feebe. Everyone else puts the O in the wrong place, I know it's silent, but it gets very annoying. I often find myself correcting the same person 45 times. Even people I have known for years spell my name "Pheobe"

My name is Bethany, which I have a love/hate relationship with. When reading my name off a paper, people see to only see the B and the -any and assume that I'm another one of the fifty million Brittanys born in the late '80s. I also get Stephanie sometimes, presumably because of perceived rhyme.

I go by Beth, too, which causes some confusion because people expect it to be short for Elizabeth, and it's not.

For 1986, my name, Alyssa, was pretty unusual in my area of the world (Minnesota). In elementary school I was called Alicia all the time! Because I didn't talk back then, I would never correct the teacher and always relied on my peers to do it and they usually did. When my parents would tell someone my name they'd think they heard it wrong and say, "Melissa?" and my mom would say, "No, the 'M' is silent." On paper people spell my name wrong all the time. Allyssa, Alissa, Alysa, Allysa etc. I remember getting one of my books signed by Al Franken last year and he asked my name and I told him and then asked me to spell it and he just had this funny look on his face like he never would have guessed that was how you spelled it.

I somewhat understand when it happened at work, cuz it was the head honcho boss who called me it, who doesn't know me that well, and we did have a Stephanie working there. Looked nothing like me, hehe, but still. I had a highschool teacher call me that several time early in the class, and finally just told me I look like a Stephanie :). I don't think I do, but I also don't look much like a Heather either, since Heather has become one of those sexy names.

I'm Samantha so it's usually not so hard. I go by 'Sam,' though. Occasionally I get Pam and Ann but that's really only with my friend Mal's deaf grandpa.

My lastname, though, is Wildman. So, I get all kinds of things. Wilder, Wilde, Wideman, Wilemen, Wilmen, William, etc.

Yeah, I know. People just seem to forget and go "err, I know it's a common name that ends with an 'uh' sound" and just guess at Sarah. I guy I used to know well but hadn't seen in a while called me "Claire" recently, but he was pretty drunk.

My surname is a nightmare though. It's Mathew, and I always get Matthew, Mathews, Matthews, or occasionally Mather.
