[identity profile] nearlyalegume.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Hi, I've joined this community on a lazy Sunday afternoon because my fiance and I were discussing potential future baby names yesterday, and I'd like to run them by some impartial folks and see what you think.

There won't be any babies for a few years yet - we're not even getting married for 14 more months!

The plan is to have two children, or at least, that was the plan last time we discussed it, so we need two girl names and two boy names.

I've insisted that the first born boy have his father's middle name as his middle name, so he'll be Something James. The surname is Irish and monosyllabic, and so we're making lists of mostly Irish/Celtic/Gaelic names. I know that these aren't always everyone's cup of tea, but they'll sound right with the surname. The only stipulations are that names can't start with Q or end in an 'in' sound, and that the letter K is out.  I just don't like the letter K. Our recently-born nephew is Oliver, and his name works very well with the surname (which is the same).

My personal favourites are in italics.  I can certainly live with the others, but we all have our favourites in our lists of favourites, right?

Hmm. Well I know Eilish comes from Elizabeth.

Oh, I checked another website. Eilish/Ailish = Elizabeth. Ailis = Alice.

But no matter what it's a pretty name. Except my friend sometimes gets called "eyelash".
