my mother wanted to name me tuesday, which is the day i was born. she had already had katelyn picked out. my dad named me though so i wound up carrie marie.

as my mom used to tell it, they never even picked out a boys name because she always knew i would be a girl.

If I was a boy, I was going to be Alexander. Other girls names my parents considered were Emily, Stephanie, and Celeste. I ended up being called Alison, which I'm pretty happy about. Emily and Stephanie are too common, and Celeste is just silly.

I don't know if my parents had alternative girl names for me. I know my dad picked out Alyssa, which seems kinda shocking considering most guys pick really bad names. If I were a boy my name would have been Jeffrey or Kevin. When my mom was pregnant with my brother, we voted as a family between Jeffrey and Kevin, I voted for Kevin and it ultimately won.

Thanks! I always find it hard to explain how to pronounce something ....but I guess "no-Eh-mee" (or maybe "no-AY-mee"...is there even a difference between those two?). Anyway it's the swiss/german version of Naomi.
