I think this might be my new favourite boy name and was wondering what everyone in this community thought of: Joachim.
I heard it a lot in Norway, where I visited this summer, and apparently it is quite common there. It's really unusual in U.K. as far as I know; I haven't met any one here named that anyway. I don't know about the U.S.
It is pronounced like 'Yoa-chim', or maybe more like 'Wa-kim'. Babynamer tells me that it has hebrew origins and means "Founded by God." It's used in in German, English, French and Polish. I also like the variants Joaquin (Spanish) and Joaquim (Portuguese). And I quite like the nickname Joe, too.
Thoughts? Good? Bad? Do you like any of the variants more?
Thanks!
