argument

I like the name Maggie but the husband doesnt. Actually he likes it but he doesnt think it sounds good with our last name, which is Eddy...I think it would be fine and with Grace as a middle name...
so do you all think that Maggie Grace Eddy (pronounced Eddie) sounds good together?

I think Maggie Eddy sounds perfectly fine. It's not like it's Maggie Addey, the sounds are different. Maggie Grace is a lovely name, too.

Your icon makes me giggle.

Ahh! Firefly wins. :-D

Maggie Eddy is fine, IMO. And if it's the name you both like, use it. It's not truly awful (my parents wanted to name me Emma, but our last name is McKenna. Now THAT would have been bad. *g*) or anything.
Maggie Grace is beautiful...it's also the name of the actress who plays Shannon on "Lost." (Well, I don't know if Grace is her middle or last name.) Just, you know, random name trivia in case it has any effect on your perception of the name.

i like the name Maggie and Maggie Grace Eddy sounds good - it's always difficult to find a good first name for a child as it is and having a difficult last name makes it harder (ours is Voll so not much that we liked with that)

hehe...i hear ya :) i love that icon it's really cute :)

Maggie Eddy is a bit of a mouthful, but not bad at all. A name without an -ie sound at the end would be smoother.

Using a middle name as a buffer sounds like a good idea, but how often do most people use their middle names?

[identity profile] dolcedaze.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Would he like it better if it were short for a more formal name? Maggie is one of my favorite names, but I would personally only use it as a nickname for Margaret or Margery. I think Margaret Grace Eddy sounds beautiful.

I agree.

Maggie Grace Eddy sounds beautiful, but I doubt you'd be using her middle name all the time. How about Margaret? Margaret Eddy goes nicely, and you call her Maggie.

Your last name is incorrigible!

But, haha, I really do like the name Maggie. You could make her full name Magdalene or Margaret and do Maggie as short.

Other than that, I'm stumped!

I like Margaret Eddy also. Maggie Eddy is a bit of a mouthful for me.

ditto & ditto

The thing that I don't like about Maggie Eddy is that Eddy is sort of a nickname name as well, so it sounds like she has two nicknames going on a la Billy Bob...

I think it you named her Margaret and just called her Maggie it would work out better. I love the name Maggie Grace though- it's so cute.

Are you a Lost fan by any chance? Just asking because Maggie Grace is the name of one of the actresses on the show...

OMG.. I actually know a Maggie Eddy! She is a close friend of my cousin!
