What do you think of the nickname Cobie (or Coby) for a girl?

I just started watching the show "How I Met Your Mother" , and one of the actresses goes by this name (Cobie Smulders). Her full name is Jacoba Fransisca Smulders.

I think it's a cute variant of her not-as-cute first name, Jacoba, but I don't think I would ever use it. If I was her, I would probably have everyone call me Fransisca. It sounds more feminine and a little more grown-up. Thoughts?

ETA: How does everyone feel about Jacoba? I like the pronounciation (yah-CO-bah), but I can't get over the fact it looks too much like the name it's derived from, Jacob, which has always been a very masculine name to me.

The names Jacob/a has been in my family (mom's side) for generations. My grandmother was called Jacoba Elizabeth (I think after her grandfather, who in turns has been named after his uncle etcetera), my aunt is Elizabeth Jacoba. I think that tradition has died out now though...
Anyway, my grandmother went by the name Cobi and I have never really thought about it... I don't think it's particularly pretty, but it did fit my grandmother perfectly.
(We're Dutch, by the way. And the pronounciation is the same).

I love Jacob, so Jacoba has its charms to me, but I'd definitely never use it. Coby has always made me think of colby jack cheese, plus, I used to know the most obnoxious kid by that name (not a nickname, either, but his given name), so I've never cared much for it, but there's something so cute about it being a nickname for Jacoba that in that context, I don't mind it.

I read a series of books about a girl named Kobie when I was a kid and liked it then, but now I just think of the Kobe Bryant debacle, and the name's been killed for me.

I'm not a fan of Jacoba, though I don't mind the way it sounds. I really love Cobie, though!

my best friend's mom went by Coby her name was Coberly (I have no idea where they came up with that name but everyone called her Coby.)
