Oct. 18th, 2007 05:26 pmWhich do you prefer, Maud or Maude?
Do you think the name is too "old womanish"? It's a name I've always loved, but have always been told that it's too old-sounding. Recently I'm starting to like the idea of the name for my (soon-to-be here) little girl -- the previous post reminded me of it -- ... but I've never found a middle name that I think goes well with it. Any suggestions?

Maude Christiane
Maude Isadora
I think something longer sounds good, and maybe leaning toward more feminine?

Date: 2007-10-18 11:12 pm (UTC)Maybe it's just me, but I tend to pronounce them in a different way:
Maude as 'mode' and Maud as 'maw-d'. I've also never seen the latter spelling.
I like Mauve, like the color :)

Date: 2007-10-18 11:43 pm (UTC)You're right about middle names, though. Maybe use Maude as the middle name, and still call her by it? (That's a tradition in my husband's family, and I've known several other people who do the same thing.)
