Please excuse any incoherence or typos or just general weirdness in this. My question is legit, but I'm hopped up on painkillers.

What do you think of the name Cole? I don't know Charmed was ever big enough that people would make that immediate connection, and I can't think of any pop culture references. There is of course coal, which isn't the best connotation but eh.

Now, what about Kole? I'm not usually big on changing spellings, but I have a reason for this one as opposed to just wanting to be creative.

I'm not planning on having kids for a very long time. When my little brother (Ross) was born, my mom said that she really liked the name Cole, but couldn't use it because our last name begins with Kole-.

So, flash forward to the hypothetical future. I'd like to get married before I have kids, and unless my hypothetical future husband has a really horrible last name or one that doesn't sound good with Hannah, I'll be taking his.
I like the name Cole, but not enough to use as a first name. I know it's not uncommon for children to have their mothers maiden names as middle names.

So, do you think Kole as a middle name would work, especially when the spelling would have significance and not just be spelt that way on a whim? It would probably be paired with Andrew.

I second this!

Kole is something I can picture a teen boy liking for himself, even though of course trends change.

btw, my son has (what i hope to eventually be) my maiden name as a middle. it's an acceptable male first name, so people who don't know my last name probably assume it's just a name i liked.

I like Cole as a first name. I've known a few of them. It's a good name. If anything it makes me think of the kid from Sixth Sense. His name was Cole, wasn't it?

It works much better as a middle name. Kole looks misspelled, no matter the reasoning behind it.

It reminds me of the son in Mr. Holland's Opus, who was named after John Coltrane.

Only as a nickname. Works well for Nicolas. I guess Kole could work for Nikolas (also a legit spelling).

My bf's name is Cole and I love it. It's not abnormal, but it's not a common name.

I love the name Cole, either as a first or middle name. A friend of mine used her maiden name as her sons middle name, and its adorable.

ps, i think of Charmed. =] but then again, if i had twin girls i was going to use the name Piper bc of that show.
