I think I prefer Clare over Claire, because the 'i' looks a little excessive, but what do you guys think? Is the name too plain, too blah in your opinion?

And how would you pronounce Clara?

I voted for Clara.
It's always been impossible for me to pronounce Claire. I prefer this spelling to Clare, though.

It is impossible for me to chose between Claire and Clara. Claire is my name and I love it, I think it really suits me. Clara is a beautiful name though and if my name wasn't Claire it would definitely be on my list.

I definitely prefer Claire. Clare looks masculine to me.

I pronounce Clara "CLARE-uh."

I like all three. This may seem weird, but I prefer Claire and Clara as first names, and Clare as a middle. But really, I think Clare is cute either way.

I love both Claire and Clara, but I'm not so into Clare. It looks like it's missing a letter. Which it is, I guess. I would go with Claire, for sure. I also live by a Lake St. Clair, so that's another alternate spelling.

Clair is a boys name. its the masculine version of Claire.

I'm pretty sure it can be feminine as well.

How do you pronouce Clare? My initial reaction is 'clah,' but that sounds wrong.

I pronounce Claire 'clea' and Clara 'clah-rah.'

I'm Scandinavian, but I have the upper class English accent, if you know which I mean.

I like Clara the best as it's more unusual than Cla(i)re. I don't think I'd ever use it but I really quite like it. I would pronounce it CLAR-uh. First syllable to rhyme with car.

I prefer the spelling Claire as I think Clare is a little plain.
I pronounce Clare and Claire the same - to rhyme with air.

I like Claire better. Clare looks like its missing something, like a letter lol. Seems plain.

Clara is pronounced "claire-uh"

I pronounce Clara how it's spelled. The a in the first syllable is very flat like Dad.

I think Clare looks just wrong. I'm pretty sure the traditional spelling is Claire, as its the feminine version of a french male name Clair, meaning clear.

I also really like the name Clara though, its one of my best friends names. she pronounces it claire-uh and it's the only pronunciation of it i like.

I chose Claire, because it's my name and I feel really incomplete when people miss out the i.
It's worse when the e gets left off though.

While i usually pronounce Clara as Clar-a, someone above pronounced it Clair-a...which I think is really cute too.

My favorite is Clare. Clare is the English spelling and Claire is French but somehow Claire came to be more popular in the English-speaking world. I do like all of them, though, and I pronounce Clara like Clare-uh (first syllable rhymes with care).
