[identity profile] girlsknowbest.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
due in less than 10 weeks with my second daughter, i have decided that i am just going to call her "the baby". as my husband an i cannot seem to agree on anything and nothing is "sticking" with me at all.

"the baby" it is.

ok, all kidding aside...is anyone else as seriously stuck as i am? my first daughter was named before i was pregnant pretty much.

My monnogrammed diaper bag (that my mother is constantly harrassing me over since she can't get it monogrammed til we know what the name is...cause apparently she just doesn't have anything else to worry about and how nice is that, right?) is on hold and if my mother brings it up again, I swear, I'm gonna tell her to shove the bag up her butt.

ok, back to your regularly scheduled "vote on my baby name list" posts.

And thank you for letting me vent.

ahh sorry now I've read your post again, and noticed there wasn't supposed to be a list :P

"the baby" sounds really cool, like, this is "THE baby!" or "THE baby is in da crib!!" ..it makes for a great hip hop persona :P

Haha! How about Secunda Infanta? Literally "Second Baby" in Latin. Or:

deuxième bébé (French)
zweites baby (German)
seconda bambina (Italian)
segunda bebê (Portuguese and Spanish)
futame bebi (Japanese) (Other words for baby: osanago, akachan, chinomigo, youji, akanbou)

:p

Have you seen Nymbler? It generates a list of names from names that it thinks you'll like based on the names you already like. Does that make sense?

Anyway, from Isabel:

Eliza
Nina
Daniella
Madeline
Arianna
Gabriella
Lucia
Maya
Eva
Phoebe
Talia
Bethany

Maybe you'll like something from that list? Good luck naming "the baby"! ;)

LOL, my soon-to-be-husband does the same.thing. I'll suggest a name, and he'll be like, "You mean ____ from Cheers?" As if when the kid gets older, s/he'll be laughed at on the playground for having the same name as someone from a TV/movie 20+ years older than the kid.

What about Thalia? It's similar, and it means "to blossom".

p.s. Rocky's wife's name was Adrian. The actress who played Adrian's name was Talia, though. Which should still be completely use-able, imo. :)

It's a variant of Talya, which means "dew from god" in Hebrew, according to behindthename.com.

my first and second children were named before I was pregnant with either of them. my third...? took forever. but he did end up with a name.

I'd go with "number two". "the baby" won't age very well..

Hey Baby works in Dirty Dancing... :P

Good Luck with finding a name you both agree on. Maybe when she is born she will just look like a name and it will be easy.

Yeah I had the same problem with my girls. The first one was easy. We had a boys name picked out and everything. So when #2 came along, the torture began immediately following the sonogram when we found out we were having another girl.

I dont think Barnes and Noble had a baby name book on the shelf I didn't own. I found out Bruce Lansky is a lazy man who had a good book and then just added varient spellings and milked it for far too long. Baby Name Wizard (inspiration for Nymbler) is a brillant book and I hope the author releases another edition with more entries. Sue Browder has a great book The New Age Baby Name Book which is actually not very New Age~just left out a bunch of the names from our parents generation. I love Browder's book because it includes pronounciations for all the names! :)

Anyway, Baby Name Addicts.com eventually led me to my daughter's name with 2 weeks until my due date! I spent HOURS on the computer going from one site to another. "Addicts" was very appropriate by then.

From the short list you posted, I love Meredith and Eleanor. I think both flow well with Adeline as a middle name. I love Merrie as a nn for Meredith and Nora for Eleanor. Good luck!

Ok I'm just pulling a name out of the sky here......

Ruby Genevieve

Ohhhh I like it. WDYT? Or you could always go with the day she is born...Tuesday, Sunday, etc. Ok don't do that. :)
