Oh.... I'm fail. LOL

But just because I pronounce it that way doesn't mean that I always do. I'll pronounce it EE-an if someone is introduced to me as such. Though, when I see it, I think EYE-an. :D

I've seen the spelling Iain, which I would pronounce EYE-an. I don't know if someone made that up, though. Ha.

That's still EE-an if it belongs to a Scot (e.g. the author Iain (M.) Banks is definitely an EE-an, I've heard him say it). It's the older form of the name, Ian is the newer spelling.

The Welsh-origin name Ieuan is y-EYE-an, that's the closest to EYE-an in conventional English naming.

Ah my exboyfriend's brother is named Iain and it's still EE-an. I think it's just the Scottish way of spelling it.

Just moved from Scotland not a week ago, and yup. Iain is still pronounced EE-an.

Little did I know. Luckily I've never been in a situation to embarrass myself by saying wrong!

I've never heard Ian or Iain pronounced any way other than EE-an.

EYE-in sounds stupid. It's EE-in.

I've mentioned this before on here, but I have a co-worker named Ian, pronounced YAHN. Not sure of the origin.

The German (at least I think it's german, I'm not quite sure. But it's definitely very popular in Germany) version of Ian is Jan, and it's pronounced YAHN.

My first exposure to the name was from a boy who was named Ian and pronounced EYE-an, but ever since then the only versions I've heard are EE-an, so both work in my eyes.

Ee-An.
I have two friends named Ian, one of which pronounces it Ee-An, and the other EYE-AN, just to be obnoxious.

and by obnoxious, i mean he was named EE-AN, and changed it to EYE-AN because of the other Ian.
