[identity profile] monalyssasmile.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

I really love the name Payne for a boy.  I first heard it on an episode of Designing Women and I liked it.  I heard it again in another tv show and I really liked it.  I'd love to use the name but just in case I don't have a second boy, I want my first son to have the middle name Manning.  Payne Manning sounds too much like Peyton Manning and that is not what I was going for.  My current favorite boy name that I would actually use is Deacon, so I thought Deacon Manning Payne Lastname sounded decent albeit very football player-ish.  My second name I would use was Thatcher Manning Payne.  I love the names Oliver, Caleb and Adam, but they are just too popular for me to actually use.  What do you think?  Do you have any suggestions?

Payne reminds me too much of the word pain. In fact, it's such a strong reminder that if the kid were the least bit annoying, his name would be the product of many jokes.

Thatcher Manning Payne seems nicer, because Payne is the second middle name.

Payne reminds me of pain, as someone said above me. Which is not a good association. Deacon isn't too bad, but I think the three middle-names are kind of ridiuclous...and Thatcher reminds me of Margaret Thatcher. I do like Oliver and Caleb, though, which are far more pleasant than Payne or Thatcher.

I went to school with a sibset that had two first names and one middle name. They all went by their two first names

Do you really want to name your kid, essentially, 'pain'? :-\

I've only ever heard Payne used as a last name, and a word with negative connotations. Not a fan of it as a first or middle name (or really even a last name...)
