[identity profile] priorincantato.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My partner and I have pretty much decided that if this baby is a girl her name is going to be Layla. We had Morgan as the middle name, but Paul wants to keep that for any future daughters because he loves it so much. He also wants a one syllable middle name to go with Layla as he thinks it flows better. The only one I really like is Jade, but that is my cousins middle name and I don't want anyone thinking we named our baby after her.

So does anyone have any one syllable middle name suggestions to go with Layla? tia!

Layla Belle
Layla Claire
Layla Faith
Layla Joan
Layla Neve
Layla Mae / Maeve
(Rae/Faye...you name it ;))

I personally think middle names with an 'ae' sound pretty good with Layla. I like that name :)

That's a shame you can't use Jade, it sounds so pretty with it :)
Are you going to pronounce it Lay-la or Ly-la?

Layla Rose
Layla Kate
Layla Dawn
Layla Faye
Layla Hope
Layla Quinn
Layla Grace

hmm, it's hard to find a one syllable non filler middle name, but I do think Layla Rose & Layla Grace are pretty.. there's a reason they are used as middle names, they do sound lovely.

Leila was on my list for a while and I had always paired it with Rose.

I think Layla Claire is the nicest suggestion so far.

I dislike with both the fn and mn have the same hard AY sound - it's very harsh sounding. So no Grace, Faith, Raye, Paige... imo.

I strongly agree. The repetition of the long AY sounds singsongy, like a baby's rhyming game, rather than elegant and sophisticated.

Not all are one syllable, but...

Layla Fate
Layla Fleur
Layla Sage
Layla Adair
Layla Grey
Layla Isolde
Layla Liadan
Layla Tate
Layla True
Layla West
Layla Vrai

I love the name Layla Skye. The literal meaning would be "night sky". Other suggestions:

Layla Hope
Layla Neve
Layla Fleur
Layla Anne
Layla Tess
Layla Nell
Layla Chai
Layla Bree
Layla Brynn
Layla Brooke
Layla Ruth
Layla Eve

Good luck with your decision! :)

Layla is my favorite name for a girl, as well and I've always loved Layla Morgan ever since I saw you mention it here. That being said, I'll probably being using Layla Ashley for my first daughter after a friend who passed away.

My favorite was someone's suggestion of Layla Skye, for the meaning.

I'd pick a one-syllable middle name that didn't end in an A sound. My suggestion is Layla Ren, but I think everyone else suggested enough names. Hehe.

By the way, the dog I just got is named Layla!
