A friend-of-a-friend named their new daughter Harper Jane. I decided I liked it. What do you think? I've never heard it before.

I think Harper is not good unless the child plays a harp or unless it's a family last name.

Jane is nice.

I love it! It's a great name. Was she named after Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird? :)

When that was required reading I though Harper Lee was a guy. When I found out she was a she (heh) I thought it was a gutsy choice for her parents. It's growing on me though.

It wasn't her parents choice. Her name was Nelle Harper, Harper being a family surname. She chose to use Harper because it sounded more masculine to help her get published.

Oh wow, that's one of my top combos*.
So yes I love it :)

* after Harper Lee and Jane Austen - guess what I want to be when I grow up, lol (Jane is also a variant of my best friend's name, so honours her too)

I really dislike Harper, but I guess it could be worse... I just can't get past the fact that Harper sounds silly to me. Plus, it reminds me of Stephen Harper. :-\

I know a boy called Harper. You have to get used to it I guess. I started to like the name after a little while.

I'm from Alabama, home of "Nail Harpuh" as it is pronounced 'round here. I like it, I like both...but of course the first thing I think of is Harper Lee or Harpo productions...not sure about the latter...it just happens.
