Aug. 17th, 2007 09:29 ami don't think i would actually use it or anything, but one last name that is quite prevalent in both my mom's and my dad's ancestry is Spalding (yeah they're like 9th cousins, but that's not important right now). what do you guys think of that as a first/middle name for a guy? i don't think i like it a whole lot (balding spalding comes to mind), but the whole 9th cousin thing is kind of interesting. could you think of any reasonable nicknames?

What about just using it as a middle name?

Date: 2007-08-17 06:35 pm (UTC)Or perhaps one of those 'S' nicknames like Sparky, Spanky, Spud, or something?
Or, I guess they could have a middle name and use the middle name. I know people who do that. If it's a family name they go with the first name for tradition and then the middle name as the real name.
Or, use it as a middle name instead of a first name?
Someone with a name like that would possibly wind up with a nickname not based on their actual name. In school they would probably go by their last name or get some kind of name based off of the brand like "Racket" or "Ten(nis)" or something like that.
