Help me narrow it down
Aug. 14th, 2007 01:28 pmI have come to the conclusion that my list is too long and I think I should narrow it down. The problem is that I am having a hard time doing that.
So I would like your help
I know this list is long but if you could let me know what you think of these names and which you would eliminate I would really appreciate it.
Also I just want to say thanks for all the name advice since I feel like I post here a lot lol....and also I do not plan on having kids for many years....so try...if you can...to take the trendy factor out of some of these names.
Thanks!

Date: 2007-08-14 07:28 pm (UTC)Abigail (nn Abbie) - I LOVE it
Adriana - see Alena
Alana - see Alena
Alena - I know these three names are technically different names, but they all sound SO much alike. I'd recommend cutting it down to just one. I like Alana the best.
Alexa - It's okay, but I'd use it as a nickname for Alexandra
Amelia - One of my absolute favorites
Anneliese - I like the name, but you have WAY too many letters here. I'd cut it down to Analise.
Arlana - This one sounds totally made up to me, sorry. It's okay, but it sounds like Arlene with an a on the end.
Asia - I'd drop it; it's one of the better place names, but it's still a place name and I don't think it fits a little girl OR an adult woman
Audrey - LOVE it. Keep it.
Brooke - It's okay, but if it were me, I'd drop it.
Brynn - I'd drop it; it's okay, but there are a lot better names on your list, I think.
Camryn - I prefer it on boys, and I really dislike the spelling. I'd drop it, or else change the spelling to Cameron.
Carissa - It's an okay name, but I can't help thinking "DROP IT DROP IT!" because I know three Carissas and they are three of the most obnoxious and annoying and stupid people I've ever met in my life. However, you don't know them, obviously, so the connotation probably isn't the same for you.
Cassandra (nn Cassie) - Love the name. I like the nickname Cass, but Cassie works, too.
Cheyenne - I'd drop it. It's not very popular, but it IS very trendy and unfortunately, I always think "trailer trash" when I hear it. That and Sierra.
Claire - LOVE this name. Keep it, definitely.
Eliana (nn Elie) I don't like the name, but I like the nickname Ellie with two l's (Elie is a boy's name pronounced E-lee, like Elie Wiesel). Maybe use it as a nickname for Elisabeth or Eleanor?
Emily - Love it, but it is SO popular now. I'd still consider using it, but if that's something that bothers you, I'd drop it.
Faith - it's okay, but if it were me, I'd drop it
Fiona - it's okay, but not one of my favorites on the list
Giselle - all I can think of when I hear this name is an anorexic model-type. I'd definitely drop this one.
Gwyneth (nn Gwen) - okay, but not one of my favorites on your list
Isobel (nn Izzie) - I prefer the spelling of Isabel, but it's okay. It's very popular lately and with Grey's Anatomy, it's just going to get worse.
Jordana - I prefer just Jordan. Jordana seems like too much.
Kasha - I'd drop it
Keeva - again, I'd drop it
Kira - I like it a lot
Leah - LOVE it. Definitely keep this one.
Leila - Love it, keep this one
Malaya - I'd drop it
Maleah - I have absolutely no idea how to pronounce this one, but just by looking at it, I'd assume that most people would have the same problem. I'd drop it unless you're really attached to it.
Mia - Love it, but as a nickname more than on it's own. What about as a nickname for Amelia?
Molly - Love it
Nadia - Love it
Natalie - Keep it, definitely
Natasha - It's growing on me (and I like the name Tash), but I still have this picture in my head of some Russian prostitute, lol.
Neela - It's okay, but I think you've got a lot better names on your list
Nieva - Too similar to Nevaeh for my tastes. I'd definitely drop it.
Niamh - I have no idea how to pronounce this one, but I have a feeling that if I did, I'd have the same opinion of it as Tighe.
Noelle - It's okay, but I'd only use it as a middle name
Olivia - I LOVE it, but like Emily, I'd drop it if the popularity bothers you
Paige - It's okay, but not one of my favorites on the list
Paris - DROP DROP DROP DROP DROP. Paris Hilton has made this into the skankiest name ever. I CANNOT hear this name without having a negative reaction to it, and I think a good portion of the world feels the same way.
Peyton - I really dislike it; it seems so...90210 to me lol. Was there a character named Peyton? I don't even know. But it just seems very dated.
Rhiannon - it's okay, but I'd probably drop it
Scarlett - I prefer it with one t, but it's an okay name
Zoe - Love it.

Date: 2007-08-14 07:38 pm (UTC)& Amelia is far too gorgeous to nickname, even if it is a cute one like Mia!

Date: 2007-08-14 07:41 pm (UTC)In what language? EI in German is pronounced EYE, so the spelling you have here would result in something like Ana Liza.
