Speaking of russian names, anyone know how to pronounce Vlada?

I kind of like russian names as well. But pretty much only the girl names.

I like, Ekaterina, Irina, Natalia, Polina, Tatiana, and Victoria. All model names... maybe that's why!

There's a model with the name Vlada (I'm sure it's not her REAL name but she uses it anyways). I always pronounced it so different, because I'm American. I kind of thought the L was silent, like VA-DA or even pronounced it like Valda - switched the A and the L's.

I like Vladlena, it's kind of pretty.

I like Russian names and European names in general:)

Just out of curiosity how would Maria be pronounced? My best friend's mom is first generation Polish and her given name is Maria (pronounced differntly than the typical American, I jsut can't remember what it is), but she goes by Mary.

Oh, just wondering. Because it's my name, and I was named after Mikhail Gorbachev's wife, Raisa. So, that's why I was wondering. Thank you!! :)

I love Nikolai, Valentina, and Galina and probably some other ones too but it was a long list and I didn't keep track. I posted recently about names that matched my Polish boyfriend's last name and Misha topped my girl list, even though I know it's supposed to be a boy's pet name.

We're naming our little one on the way Anastasia if she's a girl. We'll probably call her Anna for short.

I love Russian names, I think they're so melodic. I love the interesting shortening of names, ie. Alexander can be Sasha, Michael can be Misha and so forth.

Our neighbours are Russian. His name's Dmitri too.
His daughters are Anastasiya and Margarita.
The mother's name is Serrennaj.

My brother's horse is named Pyotr.

I really like Nikita for a boy but I'm afraid my son might get teased if I call him that. Around here Nikita is a girl's name.

Ekaterina is just about my favourite Russian girl's name. So many cute nicknames, esp. Katia.
