*I* personally pronounce it X-zay-vee-er... The way it's pronounced in XMen, I think.

People also pronounce it Ha-vee-er.

I think usually it's the former, but my mother's boyfriend is actually named this and his parents (and he) pronounce(s) it as the latter.

Maybe more like ZAY-vyur/ZAVE-yur. Dunno if that's right, but that's what I do.

That's how you pronounce it if it were spelled Javier.

Xavier (pronounced ZAY-vee-er, HAY-vee-er or HA-vee-ar; in French, pronounced ecks-AH-vee-yay; the pronunciation ecks-ZAY-vee-er or ig-ZAY-vee-er is common but incorrect) is a masculine name.

ex-ZAYV-yur. I pronounce it like that because I'm pretty sure it's how the college does. hah-vee-yare doesn't make sense to me either because I can only imagine that name as spelled Javier, haha.

Because "xi" in Mexico is actually pronounced with a "hee" sound. Therefore, if there was a name Xavier, in Mexico, it would most likely be pronounced ha-vee-yare.

Yeah, and Xavier.

Taken from Wikipedia:

...there was ambivalence in the application of this rule in toponyms: México was used alongside Méjico, Texas and Tejas, Oaxaca and Oajaca, Xalixco and Jalisco, etc., as well as in proper and last names: Xavier and Javier, Ximénez and Jiménez are spelling variants still used today.

Zay-vee-er

I can't believe people pronounced it as "ex-avier"... it doesn't start with E! It always surprises me so much to hear it pronounced that way, as I don't think anyone does here in Australia that i know of.

zay-vee-er ... ex-zay-vee-er just makes it sound even more pretentious :)

Zay-vee-er. To me X-zay-vee-er sounds like they didn't know how to pronounce it! I probably pronounce it the first way because I know one.

I've always pronounced it X-zay-vee-er, but Funny Story, an old friend of mine met a guy with the name and insisted it was pronounced Ex-Zah-vee-ay

I don't think it'd be pronounced the second version would be pronounced with a 'z', but with an 's' because of it's places after an unvoiced consonant. That said, I like hte 'Zay-vee-er' best.

X-zay-vee-er. I always feel stupid pronouncing it, though, so I try to avoid saying it.
