[identity profile] isoldereverie.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

Last week I came across a woman named Yesterday. I have also recently met a girl (27 yrs old) named Tuesday. I knew a girl named September when I was in elementary school. I knew a girl named Memory in high school. Do these names seem odd to you? Names like April, May and June have been used for decades, but September still seems kinda weird to me. Of course we all know Wednesday Adams, but would any of you really name your child a day of the week? I kind of like Memory as a name. The Memory I knew in high school was fairly pretty and well liked and I don't recall her being teased about her name. WDYT about Memory? Any other similar names that you think are pretty or pretty odd?

I used to tell people my name was December *it's Ember* and everyone thought it was really cool. But I was also in 3rd grade. I like September, and November as names. I've never really heard days of the week names, minus Wednesday.

january through august were named after people or gods, so they're actually, you know, names. september through december were named for numbers. it's practically like naming your kid ten or eight or something.

I dunno about weekdays.

I really like September for a name. November is okay too. My cousin's name is Tuesday. She turns 7 in December.

My stepson's mom has a cat named Tuesday. There was Tuesday Weld, the actress, too.

I went to high school with two girls named December, although one went by DeeDee.

Yesterday is a little out there. In junior high, one of my friend's mom's was named Memorie... always seemed a bit strange to me.

I like Wednesday as a name, but more for a cat or something. Tuesday isn't bad either, there's a cartoon I watch and the daughter's name is Tuesday.
Most month names are just normal to me because they're used often. I think December is a cute name for a girl.
I hate some word names, even the 'normal' ones like Destiny or Charity. Memory is kinda cute, I think.

My boyfriend and I were thinking of using Tuesday if we had a daughter in the future. We were both born on Tuesdays so we thought that would be cool. I know a January Sky (she's 27), an April (32), a September (5yrs old), a Mahogany (31), a Charisma (goes by Carrie and is 27), an Apple (she's 32), a Honeymae (also 32)... there's a few different ones. My favorites are River and Story. :)

Sunday= Sun's Day
Monday= Moon's Day
Tuesday= Tyr's Day
Wednesday= Wodan's Day (Odin)
Thursday= Thor's Day
Friday= Frigga's Day
Saturday= Saturn's Day

I like February, April, May, June, July, and August as names, especially August. And I've always thought Monday would be a cool name for a girl.

In elementary school, one of my friends' mom's names was Memory. I think it's definitely unusual, but I still like it.

I also like October, November, and Tuesday as names, but I'd never use them. They're more of guilty pleasure names for me.

I actually quite like Tuesday. But thats one I know will be out the door before its even suggested to the boyfriend!
I think Tuesday is the only day of the week I would consider though.

My mums name is June, and she hates it!

I quite like some 'word' names.

I would never use something like 'September' unless the child was born in September.

I am so with you on this.

That said, I can think word names are okay if they have a history. April, Hope, Robin, etc.

After the Keys to the Kingdom series I'd never be able to take a weekday name quite seriously. Though, I was partial to the names Monday and Thursday in that series.

Months... just depends. I know a few Aprils.

I don't like any months for possible names, not even the more common ones.

I just met a girl named January. She seemed like very interesting person so it kinda fit her.

I know a family in the US who all have names like that, the girls are January, February and June. They have two brothers: Winter and Wednesday.

Me, my brothers and niece and nephew all have everyday words in our middle names like: Night, Wo(o)lf(ie), Pixel, Royal, Parisian, Tiny, Butterfly, Eight
I'm always to ashamed to tell people I know.

I don't think I would ever name my children after days or months but I find Winter really nice.

I know a girl named 'Maan' (which is the Dutch word for moon), and someone named Autumn, but am not really crazy about the names. Naming your kids after a season/a day/a month just doesn't work for me.

Naming your kid after a word doesn't do it for me either, at least, not in most cases. I know a boy named 'Boy' - which I absolutely hate, I even feel sorry for the kid. It's like his parents named him 'Boy' because they were afraid other people would take him for a girl if he'd had an other name :P
On the other hand, I do like names such as Rain (but spelt 'Rayne'), Crystal, River and India, but only as a middle name. And I would probably not use them on my children, but only on characters in my stories.

Are you from Belgium because I know a girl called Maan too!

I was actually sitting around the other day thinking that September could be a pretty name for a girl. It's kinda too weird to use right now, but I could see it becoming "acceptable" and working sometime in the future.
