Not that I've ever wanted to actually have children, but I'm quite certain that I'd name my boys Nikita and Dmitri. The, the other day, I was thinking that in the unlikely event that I get three or four sons it'd be really stupid to stick a some of my other favourite boys names there, like Raphael, Julian, Justin, Jaycee, Jace or Kaycee, in there. With a little thinking I came up with two other boys name of Slavic/Russian origin, namely Alexis and Sasha.
So my question is, how does this subset look:
Nikita
Dmitri
Alexis
Sasha
(I'm aware that three of the names are more common on girls than on boys, but I just think they fit boys better.)

Date: 2007-07-27 11:02 pm (UTC)My fiance wanted to use the name Dmitri if we had a son, but I adamantly refused. I felt like it was such a strongly cultural name (as opposed to John or something more neutral) and attached to cultures with which we are not connected. We aren't Slavic or Greek or anything of the sort.
That said, I don't dislike the name. I just felt odd using it.
