Middle name?

Hi all!

I'm not getting too heavy into thinking of names until I know if it's a boy or a girl (That makes it 50% easier, right? =]  ).
Anyway, my hubby is a history professor and a huge military history buff, particularly WWII.
I mentioned to him that, if we have a boy, we can give him the middle name Patton after the general.  He thinks that's very cool and was surprised that I liked it.

What do you folks think?
I don't have a first name picked out yet, so I'll also take suggestions that go well with Patton (if you support that middle name!)

BTW, I love this community - so fun!

I think it's very cool to include a name that reflects your husband's interest.

Also, Patton sounds cool. I don't think the real General Patton was a charming person, but that doesn't mean it's not a nice name.

Patton was kind of misunderstood. He was a great war-time general, but the military didn't really need him after WWII was over. He was a straight-forward guy and a pretty good motivator even if he was a little crude at times. =)

I think for as cute as it can sound to you parents, for a kid, to be named after military stuff might have consequences. I don't mind how the name sounds, but I think it's too serious.. after all, it's war we're bringing in the picture, and that might be kind of sad imo, regardless of whether you support wars or not.

That's a nice name. I think it is a really sweet way to honour your husband, whilst giving your child an individual name.

If it's something that really means something to him, why not? I don't normally support surnames as middle or first names unless they have a lot of meaning.

That said, I'd go with something that is not at all surnamey for the first.

Andrew Patton is the first thing that came to my mind. It sounds sweet but masculine, ya know?
