more of a general rant. not just directed at you

I'm not a fan of using children names as a poster board for advertising what hobbies or heroes the parents are into. Example: Lennon, Lennox, Hendrix, Vonnegut, Cash, etc.

It bugs me especially when the excuse parents give is "I'm a huge fan of [insert name]" or "They changed my life!" If they impacted you so much then change YOUR name. If you name your child some famous last name you'll probably just increase the odds of your child hating that famous person since that's what people would first think of and ask questions about. Imagine having to explain all the time why you parents named you Insert Famous Name, and other related questions.

I agree... to an extent. I think it's stupid when parents name their children after artists "of the moment".

I'm English (actually from Liverpool, hometown of the Beatles) living in Canada. And something that I've noticed in Canada is that other cultures have something that makes them different... languages (name variations), foods, traditions... but everyone here is still Canadian.

For me, the name Lennon is less about John Lennon, and more about honouring my Liverpudlian culture. It's about representation of heritage. But I'm fairly sure I'd only consider using it if my brother had a son named John first. "John" is my absolute first choice.

Susanna - this is the first person on baby_names I have seen with this on their top 5. It's my favorite name of all time and I plan on using it...if I can convince the man.
Lily - not my fave. Did you know Susanna means lily?
Luisa - LOVE. I like both spellings too.
Cristiana - cute...I usually do like names ending in "ana"
Francesca (would probably use "frankie") - not my style.

Francesca--this is my stepmoms name. she goes by Cesca a lot.

John Kale-cosidering the family tie, its a great combo.kale is awesome.

Cristiana - I know the curest little girl with this name, she spells it Christiana though.
Francesca (would probably use "frankie") - I like the nickname Frankie but i don't like Francesca, i don't know why, i just never have.

Brandon Gerrard (i love the way this sounds) - It's an ok name, neither really stand out though
John Kale (john is a family name) - John is really popular, but if you don't mind that then that's okay. I used to really love the name Kale, now all i can think of is the vegetable.
Lennon Andrew - I used to like the name Lennon, but i work in a school and we have a Lennon who is not the nicest child lol, so it's put me off the name.
James Eric (my grandfather's name was eric james) - It's ok
Jeremy Evan - I like this
Joseph Ryan - I do like the name Joseph (expecially with the nickname Joe), but where i am (England) it is so so popular lately. I know of 7 Joseph's all under 6.
