If a really popular, trendy female - the type that have dozens of friends, cheerleading, bunch of school activities/hobbies & a loner geek and/or nerd who doesn't care about popular things had a baby, what type of name do you think they would use?

I can see the popular one wanting to use something popular, cool, fashionable - while I can picture the non-popular one wishing to stay away from the trend and wanting something more unique.

I took uncommon, cause I want my child a name which is individual and not mainstream.

i think it would depend a lot on which one was the mom and which one was the dad. especially if they're in high school and not married. i'd say, the mom's tastes would prevail, most likely.

I think they'd go for classic, because it's somehow trendy (I mean; it never goes out of style! ;)) but it's not really trendy. So they both sorta get what they want.

Not to be difficult, but it would depend on the kind of person these parents are on the inside (yay, cheesy)... She(?) may be little miss popular, but maybe resents her popularity because she feels like all of her friends only know her in a superficial way... he may act like he doesn't care, but on the inside longs to be accepted.... and, well, you see where I'm going with my psycho-babble :-p

So, as far as your story goes, it would depend on how each character feels about how they present themselves to society. Assuming they both love who they are and whatnot, I'd probably guess that they would go with an uncommon but not unusual name. I'd imagine that would be the easiest compromise.

Classic, because thats going with a common name yet not being trendy. Its a compromise.

I voted classic because those are the most commonly used names so statistically anybody is more likely to use a common name than an uncommon one, no matter what other characteristics they have :p like, parents using common names would come from all sorts of social groups, since it's such a high number of names.
