I recently caught up with a good friend from home and realised how odd her name actually is! I've known her since we were really young, so it's never occured to me before. The name?

Trieste (prn Tree-est (rhymes with 'best')

It's the name of a city. It totally suits her cos she's a little quirky. WDYT?

If you had to choose a name of a city, state or country what would you pick? I'm not that fussed on them but I do like Dakota and Georgia. Paris is soooo overused these days (and with the connection to Paris Hilton I think the name is now a little trashy)

India, Vienna, Austria. I would never actually use them, though, even though I love the sound of India. Maybe as a middle name.

I wouldn't mind Georgia, I guess.

Trieste reminds too much of "tryst."

I would probably choose Pittsburgh. Or Afghanistan. One of those two.

Cool. You could name your kid Brad Pittsburgh.

Good question.. I can't actually think of any place name that I like. I will have to think about it!

I used to like Dakota, Brooklyn, and Ireland but not so much any more. Georgia is starting to grow on me. I like London, Dresden (not because of the city), and Elysian.

On a side note, my great aunt's mother was named Texanna.

I like Asia for a girl, but I don't think I'd use it. I also rather like Geneva and Vienna.
For boys I really like the name Brighton, which is a town I know of, and which I'd love to use, but... it doesn't really go with the other names I like, and I think it sounds a little pretentious. I might think about using it as a middle name with a more traditional front name, like Robert. Dunno. It has some significance to me, so I debate with myself about it all the time. Haha.

Trieste is pretty, but it's the name of an apartment complex in my town. That's all I can think of when I hear that name, haha.
