I have this friend, drop dead gorgeous.  Her husband isn't go bad either.  Kristina just had the most beautiful baby girl.

Sadly, the name sucks.

Maysun Cash Ring

Maysun Cash for a girl.  What the fuck is a Maysun?  Mason.  Isn't that typically a boys name?  Ugh.

That poor poor beautiful little girl.

Oh, really? I saw it and assumed it was a created name, or an odd spelling of Mason. Now that I know the origin, I'm not as negative about it. :P

I bet that's not the name they were going for, though, judging by the middle name D: They probably just thought it was a cute way to spell Mason.

Maysun Ring sounds like part of the top of the lid for a Mason jar.

I like Mason for a girl, actually. Unfortunately for Maysun though, she will spend her life spelling out her name for EVERYone. And she'll constantly be correcting people.

Just curious as to why you mention your friend being drop dead gorgeous, as well as her husband's looks. Is one's looks relevant to what they name a child? BTW, ITA that the name sucks.

It's just a shame when a gorgeous kid gets an ugly name, lol.

So ugly kid's deserve ugly names?

It's a shame when anyone gets an ugly name. But to see the most beautiful, seraphim-like little girl running around with a name like Lucretia or Bobby Sue or Bertha is really disappointing.

Of course I can't be sure. I'm just saying it's sad to see a beautiful kid ending up getting stuck with some terrible name because his or her parents have bad taste.

I like Ingrid and hate Madelyn, haha.

But, honestly. If you saw a pretty little girl or cute little boy running around with a name you find incredibly terrible, wouldn't you shake your head and sigh?

I don't really think babies are cute, either. I don't like fawning over babies like other people do, because I don't see anything cute about them. I don't see how anyone could go on and on and on about a baby's cuteness like some people do. I like taking care of and playing with kids when they're between 2 and 8. When they do silly, cute things and are well aware of it. When they start developing personalities.

Maysun looks really Oriental to me, for some reason.
I'd pronounce it May-SUN, different from MAY-sen (Mason).
WRitten that way it's like they wanted it to mean "May sun", as in "Sun of May", which might be interesting for a girl.
That said, it's got nothing to do with Cash, which is also very masculine to me.

I think of Maso n as unisex. I don't mind the name swapping thing. But I do think it would have been better to hyphenate: May-sun and pronounce it like two words. Kind of an asian thing to do, I guess, but that's me. Where the hell did Cash come from, though? I would have made the middle name Gold. =) haha.

My first thought...if the name is mason-inspired, rather than Arabic, as mentioned above...is that all three names are nouns. Do you know why they chose Cash? An homage to Johnny?

One of my name books actually lists Mason as a possible girl's name. But it mentions that it's rare on a female.

You mean like male names that have come to be used mainly by females? Kelly, Tracy, etc? It lists those, as well, with a comment beside that they are considered by many to be feminine names now.

What (I guess) I should have said was that it lists Mason as a name that is sometimes used for females, despite the fact that it was originally a male name. If a name was commonly considered female and was increasingly used for males, I'm sure an updated version of the book would note this, yes.

Ouch. To the full name. You'd think they might have actually thought about the name that much harder since the last name is a bit tricky.
