My cousin is four months pregnant and, of course, I've been bugging her constantly about the name. Her father, who died eight years ago, was named Bennie Allen, and my cousin was considering Bennie Alynn if she has a girl. The baby's father wasn't very supportive of that idea, so my cousin decided last month that the same initials would work just as well, and thought maybe Brynn Alizabeth would do. I talked to her earlier and asked if that was definite, and she told me it's now between that or Brexton Shaey, having come to think that just the same FIRST initial would do. I've never heard the name Brexton before. Have you guys? My first thought was that Brexy would be kind of cute for a nickname, which she said she'd already decided she'd use if she went with that name.

Any thoughts? Preferences of the three?

Just Bennie would be cute. Or Bennie as a nn for something.

Alynn on a girl is ick. Alizabeth is ghastly, as is Shaey, which doen't even make sense. I do like Shea or Shay, but I hate random collections of letters that don't really spell anything at all. Brexton I could handle, I guess, though it's not exactly a pretty name. Very harsh and masculine sounding.

it sounds completely made up.
and what's with the deliberate weird spellings of elizabeth and shay/shea?

Bennie could be a nickname for something like Benita or Bernadette. But those are a little old fashioned.

Brynn is ok. Brexton is an atrocity. I don't like Shaey (What?) or Alizabeth. There are a lot of other names that actually start with A that she could use as a middle name for Brynn. Alexandra, Alyssa, Ariana, Alana, etc.

Brexton is too much the copycat of Braxton, which all it reminds me is of Braxton-Hicks contractions.

I really like Shay as a mn, but not so much Shaey, bc the spelling gets complicated. Although I don't mind it, visually.

Brynn is not a bad name, maybe too unisex, but Alizabeth is just wrong.

Brexy sounds cute and rhymes with sexy, so a girl might like it. But Brex already makes me think of Rex, as in Tyrannosaurus (T-Rex), so maybe she'd steer into being B-Rex. I guess I'm just hyper-associating here :P

Anyways, if it weren't too short and unsatisfaying-sounding, I'd suggest Brynn Shay (Shaey). Or maybe Brynn Elizabeth Shay.

Out of all of those the only one I really like was Brynn Alizabeth, even though I'm not to keen on that spelling of Elizabeth at all.

My question is, couldn't they just use the name Bennie Allen on a boy? Honoring family members doesnt have an expiration date

Talk about trying too hard. What a bastardizing use of the Roman alphabet. I mean, Shaey, c'mon.

technically if they were to name her Alizabeth it wouldnt be any differnt then if the names were seperated. and Aliza is actually an older name.

I've never heard the name Brexton. And Alizabeth? Sounds like they're just making names up.. yeah I know the pronunciation of Alizabeth could be the same as Elizabeth, but that is the worst spelling of Elizabeth/Elisabeth I've ever seen! No offense to you or your cousin, but Brexton definitely sounds male and Brexy sounds like a dog's name.

A pretty girls' name I read in a book once was Alilen. WDYT? Might be neat since it's similar to Allen but more feminine.

Beatrice Alilen?

I like unusual names as much as the next person, but your cousin seems to be stretching as far as possible and losing sight of having a nice name.. just my opinion.

Ah, sorry.. here choices seem somewhat old-timey, which is why I suggested Beatrice. Oh well, there's plenty of names out there, just some suggestions. Lol.. if she's worried about things looking silly, I'd definitely stay away from Brexton or Alizabeth. :P

I think Brexton sounds like a really stupid name, but I don't really have the right to judge it I suppose, it's just not my style at all....

it just reminds me of "breakfast"

According to this site (http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Bennie), Bennie can be a girl's name. She could also go with Benita, Benedicta or Benjamina. I can't say that I'm fond of any of them, but at least they are real names.

As for a middle name, keeping the 'Al' part, the possibilities are endless. Alana, Alexandra, Alison, Alberta, Allena, Althea, Alessia, Alice, Alicia, etc etc etc...
