What do yall think of the name Harlow? Is it a firt name, surname, place name? I like it as a first name for a girl. It's on my top ten list.

Makes me think of a 'harlot', or a place in Essex. I really don't like it, it sounds ugly.

Yeah, it reminds me of Harlot too...sorry. :\

I also think harlot. And isn't Jean Harlow kind of a sex symbol? I just can't make that work out very well on an infant or toddler.

With that logic, though, we wouldn't have anyone named Betty, Marilyn, Angelina, Cindy, Claudia, Tyra, Cheryl, Farrah, Linda, Giselle, etc...

I like Harlow for a girl. My first thought was of Jean, not a whore. Now, kids can be mean little buggers, but most of the kids I know don't know the word harlot, let alone what it means (for which I blame the lack of reading among teens...but thats another post:)

I just think that the primary, and often only, association people have with the name Harlow is of this old-time sex-symbol pin-up woman.

The other names you suggest have a variety of other associations, and not purely a connection with one attractive model/actress.

And I don't mean to suggest that this is a big reason not to use the name, but I think it might be somewhat jarring to meet a young child named Harlow.

I was just going to say that. Harlot.
