Date: 2007-06-09 07:04 pm (UTC)I've seen Harley on a girl, so I don't see Harlow as a far reach. On a boy, it would remind me too much of Arlo. Ugh.

Date: 2007-06-09 08:45 pm (UTC)I like Harlow for a girl. My first thought was of Jean, not a whore. Now, kids can be mean little buggers, but most of the kids I know don't know the word harlot, let alone what it means (for which I blame the lack of reading among teens...but thats another post:)

Date: 2007-06-11 04:42 am (UTC)The other names you suggest have a variety of other associations, and not purely a connection with one attractive model/actress.
And I don't mean to suggest that this is a big reason not to use the name, but I think it might be somewhat jarring to meet a young child named Harlow.

Date: 2007-06-10 07:51 am (UTC)i mean, my name is derived from dionysus, the god of getting drunk and partying, but its much less obviously so. naming a kid harlot is the same as naming them whore.
