A high school buddy of mine fathered a little boy. They named him Asswipe (pronounced AS - WEEP- A)

THAT is something Id not do...even though I use not too often heard names...

Isn't there some sort of law dealing with this? I swore there was but my googling skills are apparently crippled.

No way in the USA! :) Who knows...but I hope not. Seems like SOMEONE could have said something.

I have heard of Female (Fee-mal-ee) and Placenta, but not asswipe. If this is true, shame on him.
I have also heard of Justin Tyme and a child with the middle name of Sex- a student my friend has in an inner-city school.

Who knows?

My aunt, an obstetrician, delivered a baby named Placenta. I was pretty horrified.

When we lived in California in the late 80's, my said that several nurses said it was pretty common for non-english speakers to think that the hospital had taken the liberty of naming there baby female or male, or even baby boy or baby girl

Nm, not a troll. I'm kinda disappointed, I'd rather go back to believing NO ONE would name a child that. I mean, holy shit. :(

I feel sorry for the kid. And I wonder if the parents should actually be parents if they name their kid something so ridiculous like that.

A friend of the family's daughter showed me a year book of her school. There is a girl in her school named Seksika- SEX-ika. I think of how my step-father refused to let my mother name my brother Tucker because it rhymes with f-er, and then take a look at that poor girl.

Some people really shouldn't be naming children.

And I know that there is a law against this in Germany. Don't think there's one in the states.

Is your friend a character played by Nicolas Cage in a Saturday Night Live sketch? ;)

The script for the sketch in question (http://snltranscripts.jt.org/92/92ababynames.phtml)

I know a mom who named her daughter Placenta, except she spelled it Plakenta, but still pronounced the same way. When she told me, I just stared at her in shock.
I still feel bad for that kid...

This has to be a lie. In the U.S., that name would not be accepted by the state department of health.

^ Hopefully it is an urban myth indeed. Asswipe is terrible! And I thought Anush for a girl was bad...
