Are there any names you would never choose because there are too many ways to spell it?

For instance:
Muhammed (Muhammad, Mohamed, Mahamod, Muhumad)
Allan (Alan, Allen, Alen, Allyn)
Ashley (Ashlee, Ashleigh, Ashly, Ashli, Ashlea)

Are there any other seemingly superficial reasons you would choose not to name someone?

I would use names with multi-spelling options.

But, Id never name a kid:

John/Jon - because of an Ex that I HATE
Sidney/Sydney (I love the name but HATE my father and this is his name)
Alexander/Alex - another Ex I cannot stand!
Melissa, Staci/Stacey, Dana - The names of the OTHER women..
plus the names are all too common for first names..

likewise I like the name Jonathan but would not use it because of a memorably horrible ex.

brittany
kelly

i wouldn't choose them, not soley because of the spelling options, but because my name is brittany and i've never been fond of kelly.

There are also limitless spellings of Eleanor (and I've seen most of them, believe me), but I don't think that takes anything away from it as a name. I prefer the standard/my spelling (Eleanor), but it's not a big deal to me if my Starbucks cup reads "Elinor" instead.

Chebyshev. Seriously, there's so many ways to spell this name, it's impossible to spell it wrong.

I don't mind the multiple spellings so much except those ones that are very trendy right now - like Ashley (I really hate Ashleigh), I guess I just dislike the "unique" way of spelling that people are coming up with.

My name is Stacey and I've seen it many ways - Staci, Stacie, Stacy, Stacii, Staycee, Stacee...and my name's not even that common!! LOL
