What do you guys think about "matching" or related twin names?
Personally, I really like them as long as they're not TOO close. For instance, James and Jack would be waaay to close for me, but James and Jeremiah would be okay. Similarly, Hunter and Gunnar would be too theme-y but Hunter and Harrison I like okay. I'm even a LITTLE iffy on the same starting letter.

Right now, my favorite twin names for girls are Genevieve nicknamed Ginny and Juliette. I like that they both start with the same sound, but aren't spelled similarly.

How is Hunter and Gunnar theme-y? (I'm Norwegian and Gunnar's common here, but Hunter isn't common at all ).

As long as they're not too close, I guess. I'd have Nikita (Disraeli) and Dmitri (?) in an imaginary world.

Yeah, I see your point now.

Gunnar is Scandinavian and means 'Battle of warrior' or 'fighter' or something along those lines.

I don't mind same starting letter, or like, using names from the same nationality, but i'm not a fan of tailoring childrens names to match. One of the most annoying questions i see is "what's a good sibling name for X" no! if its a name, it matches!

To me, using a really knock-you-over-the-head obvious theme is like dressing the kids alike - every single day of their lives. :(

I like Charlotte and Scarlett for twin girls, but I'd abhor the nicknames Charley and Scarley.

Genevieve and Juliette are very pretty! I love both and I think they would work great for twins!

My twin and I are Kelsey and Lacey, with the same "see" ending, but they sound so different that no one has noticed over the years except Mom and I. It worked out perfectly.

Rhyming names, whether real or nicknames, are absolutely horrid. Twins are so constantly lopped together that they wind up resenting any similarities between themselves; rhyming aggravates things. I knew a Tina and Gina and they absolutely despised each other and avoided each other, one becoming a conservative Christian and the other becoming a lesbian drug addict. Twins with different names altogether generally end up better, like Sabrina and Jacklyn or Nick and Will.

Twins should be regarded as regular siblings and should be named as such.

my sisters are twins and their names are valerie and vanessa. if they were boys they would have been named derek and dylan. my dad really wanted kendra and kendel but my mom won. what do you guys think? i really don't like matching names like tracy and stacy or something. ick! but i don't think my sisters names are that bad.

My cousin named her twins Kasidy and Kaylin. Not really a fan.

I'm sort of screwed with boy names, because my favorite boy names ever are John and James. =\ And I really want to use them both. But I had that they both have one syllable and begin with J. Sigh.

I don't think they should match at all. I just think they should sound nice together. Like Madalyn and Isabelle or Sarah and Lauren.

I don't really like matching names. Like the person above me, I think they should sound well together. There is also something a friend of mine did: she named her twins Elisabeth (Grace) and Isabella (Ruth) -- both names mean "God is my oath." I thought that was interesting.
