okay so I am not pregnant at the moment and not trying either (wanna wait until I am slightly more stable, maybe when I'm 25-27ish). My husband has *one* name he likes and has *ever* expressed to me despite the fact I bother him about it all the time =/
He likes the name: Damien

What do I think? It's not a bad name... I just keep thinking of the omen ;.; what do you guys think? I mean, if we have kids and it's a boy and he really does like this name I wouldn't want to take it away from him... yaknow? thoughts? thanks!

I like the name.
I think no matter where the name comes from as long as you both like it and agree on it and it isnt something theyd get horribly teased from as a child.. then go for it. :)
We named my son Davien.. it was either that or Damien actually but we desided on the first choice.

HATE IT.

but thats because the omen traumatized, and I'm sure most rational people don't have that problem and can get past the association.

Is that your kitty in the icon? My husband and I are sitting here looking at it. We've called our little calico 'Bird-girl' since she was a kitten because she chirps.

Yup! That's my Phoebe. Before she hops up onto anything, she announces herself with a little chirp!

That's the one name my boyfriend of 2 years likes as well :] Which I am happy with because Damien might be my favourite name ever.

I personally don't think you should use a name you don't like. On the one hand, I can see how it would be nice to respect the 'only' name your spouse likes, but on the other hand I would never insist on a name my spouse doesn't care for.

I'm in a little bit of a similar boat. My husband loves the name Mary Alice. I don't like either name and really don't like them together. Part of that is my name is Meredith and I really don't want a daughter named Mary-- 'Mer' is a common nickname for both. Also, a name I do like is Edith, might be weird havin gboth Mary and Edith.. but we probably won't have an Edith.

Anyway, I'm trying to compromise with my husband and use Alice as a middle name.

I just don't like Damian, hard to give an open if you should use it.

I like it a lot. Who cares if it's from the Omen?

I like the name myself, and to just to cut away the creepiness of the movie associated with the name I would just spell it differently- for me I would spell it Dameon.

I have a cousin named Damien (except it's spelled Demian, since he was named after the novel by Hermann Hesse). I've always liked the name.

Growing up, I knew two guys named Damian (both spelled that way) in my same grade. One of them was a really good friend of mine. I never associated the movie with either of them, but then again, I don't watch scary movies much.

I like it, I think it would have been my #2 name if it wasn't my bil and his fiancee's #1 name :)

remember, it was a name for years and years before the omen movie was made.

i love the name damien.
if it reminds you too much of the omen you could change the spelling to something like damian or damion or even damein.
