I adore it. It makes me think of Peter Pan (Wendy Angela Moira Darling!) which is pretty awesome in its own right.

Love it, but I picture it being said with a really thick accent in my head for some reason.

When someone says Moira, I see this woman (http://www.heresmoira.com.au/aboutus.html). She presents demonstration ads ("Wow, Terry, that beetroot stain has just come right out of the white shirt with NapiSan OxyAction!") on Australian morning chat shows.

Love it.

That spelling is more common, but the Gaelic spelling is out there, too: Maire. Most people end up seeing *Marie* when it's written, though. My sister-in-law gets it all the time & has to correct people.

I like it a lot. It's the name of one of the characters in the book I'm reading currently.

I want to like it, and I really like it in theory, but I really hate the "oi" sound so I just can't like it.

here in Italy it is used, but quite uncommon.
It's famous after a contemporary circus star, called Moira Orfei, who does numbers with horses, I think. But she's kinda old (and grotesque :P) now.

The village next to where I used to live is called Moira, so I don't really like it!

I love it, its been on my list since I was like...17. ALTHOUGH...I like the look of it better than the sound of it.

I can't decide whether I like it or not, but it reminds me of the X-men. She was once Professor Xavier's fiance, and she later hooked up with Banshee.

I really like the alternate spelling Maire, as was suggested above.

Very common in Shetland (where I live), especially for ladies in their 30s to 50s. The "Linda" of Shetland, maybe?

Everybody here pronounces it the way it looks: MOY-ra.

That was the name they gave our kitty at the Humane Society. We changed it just because I find it hard to pronounce Moira. Too vowel-y for me, if that makes sense?

Ugh, I think it is so so ugly. :(
