Why did your parents chose your name? If you are a parent, why did you choose your child(ren)'s name(s)?

I was named after Anastasia Romanov because my mom is a huge history dork and is fascinated by the Romanovs. My middle name is Elizabeth because she wanted to stick to European royalty.

My parents just liked my name, meh.

So, I've made up the story myself; Elizabeth has been a name used in my grandmother's family for generations, combine that with Anna (my mom's first name) you get Lysanne. :p

Thank you :) It's a pretty common name in the Netherlands (I think in Germany, Belgium and France as well), though it's usually spelled Lisanne.

See my great-grandmother was from the Netherlands and all she got was Maria. (I'm not fond of that name)
But my great-grandfather was Remmert. I love that name so much.
And my grandfather is Jan, which I also adore, but not nearly as much as Remmert.

I've never heard of the name Remmert before :p. It sounds very Frysian though, is that where they're from?
I adore the name Jan as well :) though it's very old-fashioned and it's like the Dutch equivalent of John. But I love that name too, haha.

Yes, thats the area they're from. But, I couldn't spell the name of their village if my life depended on it.

Jan is very simple, but lovely.
