I had a friend named Bryan, and one day someone teased him and said that it looked like a girls name. (I didn't agree, but oh well.) He said that when he was born, his dad wanted to name him Byron and his mom wanted to name him Brian. When dad left the room, mom wrote Bryan on the birth certificate, thinking it was a compromise. Mom and dad got divorced over it. The End.
I guess names are just as important to the namer as the named.

And if it didn't end in divorce, it'd end in the kid getting a different name. No one should name a kid a name they *know the other parents hates. And he obviously hate Brian/Bryan quite a bit. It was a sheisty move on mom's part though.
However, I much prefer Bryan over Byron. I have a brother named Byron, and he hates it too. LOL

My dad went from being Christopher John to Michael Anthony, and my aunt turned from a Helen into a Patricia.
I'm still not sure why my Grandma trusted him to go and get my aunt registered after what he did the first time!
