May. 2nd, 2007 04:26 pmYep, I'm another person here from the LJ spotlight. :) But this seems like a nice community! I actually have, uh, sort of a tendency to get kicked out of babyname message boards for telling people to stop being mean to each other; go figure. Seems like this community doesn't have that problem, though. :)
So ANYWAY, I'm not a mother yet, and I intend to adopt toddlers so I may not have any part in naming any children of my own, but I love baby names in general. My pets always have very carefully picked names, and so do all my characters for novels and short stories. I tend towards exotic, ethnic names, or towards very elegant classic names.

Date: 2007-05-02 09:06 pm (UTC)Najwa, from what I have found, is pronounced with 'ah' sounds for the 'a's, and a normal hard 'j' sound for the 'j'. It's an Arabic name, and if I remember correctly it means 'jewel' or 'beauty'; I think 'jewel'. But yeah, it would be really easy to mispronounce and get confused, which is why it'd probably be my least likely choice, even if I love the look and sound of it. :)
