Yep, I'm another person here from the LJ spotlight. :) But this seems like a nice community! I actually have, uh, sort of a tendency to get kicked out of babyname message boards for telling people to stop being mean to each other; go figure. Seems like this community doesn't have that problem, though. :)

So ANYWAY, I'm not a mother yet, and I intend to adopt toddlers so I may not have any part in naming any children of my own, but I love baby names in general. My pets always have very carefully picked names, and so do all my characters for novels and short stories. I tend towards exotic, ethnic names, or towards very elegant classic names.

I've always thought Loralai was very pretty, and less common than Laura :)

LOL I think I love you for your intro!

The only name of yours I'm not sure about is Najwa? I don't have any clue how to pronounce, and can just imagine butchering it.

I'm not a big fan of Artemis or Ewan, but other than that, I love your choices :)

I like Evelyn and Lorelai.

(The latter mainly because of Gilmore Girls.)

I'm an Alexandria, and I have to say that it's defiantly a name that you have to grow into. I'm glad I have it, because it's a very professional name but I hardly ever use it socially. I usually use my nicknames.

I love, love, Artemis. However, I'm not at all fond of "Art".

I'm partial to Elizabeth.
Of course, that's my middle name, and my daughter's first name. :)

However, I love love love Evelyn and Victoria. I like elegant names. :)

And Hayden, Ian, and Victor are great, too.
Should the hubby & I ever have a boy, we like the name Vincent for a boy. :D
(As for the name Ethan, it was killed for me by "Lost" lol I'm such a Lostie...)

Ennis del Mar

I was looking at the website babynamesworld.com, and they list Ennis (meaning 'island') as a girl's name. Delmar is listed for both sexes, and it means 'the pond.' Thought this was interesting. I wonder if Annie Proulx knew the meaning of Ennis' name when she chose it?

According to the book THE VERY BEST BABY NAME BOOK IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD, by Bruce Lansky, Ennis has several meanings:

In Greek, Ennis means 'mine'.
Angus is the Scottish equivalent of Ennis
Angus means 'exceptional, outstanding'
Angus Og is the Celtic God of laughter, love, & wisdom
