Im really trying to narrow my list down to a few solid names, seeing as hubby and I are TTC now.

Here are some names I like, so you can see my style. I really dont like any trendy names. I tend to lean more towards old fashioned pretty names. I really need help with middle names especially. Something with personality. I pretty much suck at names, its taken me 2 years to come up with this list. *ETA: Can anyone tell me a name which Lou could be the nickname for? For a girl?

Girls:
Violet
Claudia
Vivian
Julianne
Margot
Eloise
Penelope
Susanna
Lydia

Boys:
Elias
Silas
Owen
James
Milo
Griffin
Roman (hubby loves this one)
Louis/Lewis

Margot is probably my favorite for the girls.
I really don't like Julian for a girl at all.

I like most all of the boys names. Elias, Milo and Roman are really nice.

I like all of your names a lot though I think Julian is generally considered a boys name.

Lou can be a nickname for Louis and maybe Louisa?

You could use Lou as a nn for Eloise.

you might hate me for saying this because it definitely ruined it for me, but I always liked the name Claudia until I found out it meant lame or crippled.

In a week at our local hospital, 11 boys were born and 10 were named Owen.

Wow. That's insane! I'm not even that big of a fan of that name. All I can think of is Danny DeVito's character in Throw Momma From the Train...

I know a Louann who is a Lou. Lousia is a Lou. Lulabelle (OLD name) could be a Lou. Then there are names that end in Lou or Lu that are nicknamed Lou as well. Annalou, Mary Lou, etc.

We named our DD 'Willow Eleanor'. We specifically like girl's names that can be abbreviated to boy's names. Will from Willow, James from Jamie, and so on. So, I like your Lou name. I'd go with Lucille, Lulubelle, or Luanne, but that's just me. Good luck!

Margot is my favorite too. That's a good list, I like it. As for Lou being a nickname, what about her middle name? If Louisa or Louise, depending on the first name. Eloise could have Lou in there.

I love Penelope. I really, really do. I would think about naming my child Penelope in the future, but there was an episode of Six Feet Under where Nate pretty much calls Penelope a pretentious name and "Penelope thinks she's so great and everyone loves her but they don't". Which ruined it for me.

But! Penelope Lou.

I like Margot.

Ain't it sweet? Penelope Lou, aw. If you can appreciate both Penelope and Lou, it's just darling.

my grandmothers middle name is Lorraine (first is Ester but she doesn't use it) and everyone calls her Lou for short :)

An odd choice perhaps, but a friend of mine - Lindsay - goes by Lou. I'm Lindsay also, and so it can get confusing at times. She's been going by Lou for years though, having it come from years of being called Lindsay Lou Who.

Not really traditional or classic, but an idea all the same.

Awww, I love thename Milo. I think it's so cute. It's one of the names I have in a list of names I'd like to call my hypothetical children.

I just have to say, I love the name Lydia (it's on my list from yesterday!) and you've almost got my 2nd favorite full name up there...Lydia Suzanne.

I dunno how willing you'd be to a very Southern name, but EmmaLou or EmmyLou
