Any suggestions?
May. 1st, 2007 09:29 amHey Guys
My name is Jennifer Megan (really unique!)
Like most, I'm not having a baby anytime soon...but I love to think of their names all the time.
Here's a few from my list. (Yes...I love weird, unique and hippie names..probably because mine is so common and plain). Feel free to suggest on pairings, or add some if you think they would go along with my theme
Girls:
Lily / Layla
Saphyre Skye
Scarlett Rose
Delilah
Marley
Autumn
Cassiopeia
Amber / Ember / Emberlynn / Amberlynn / Anberlynn
Iris
Jayde / Jayden
Raine / Rayne
Shadeau ( French) / Shadow
Willow
Arwen
Aspen
Penny (Lane)
Apple (yea, people thought it was weird when Gwenyth did it...but I think it's beautiful. Apple of my eye.)
Boys:
Orion
Marley
Leif /Leaf
Forrest
Drake
Damian
River
Willow
Wolfgang
Ash
Atticus
Zephyr
Xavier ( pronounced with the X....not like Havier)
Here's my predicament.
My family has a tradition going on. My grandma's name is Joan, grandpa is Jules. They had 4 kids....Jacqueline, James, John and Joseph. My dad decided to carry it on...hence Jennifer, and my sister Julie.
I'd like to keep the tradition going, but I have yet to stumble across some names that start with a J that I like. Jasmine is kinda pretty...and goes along with my unique/natury theme, but it reminds me too much of the movie Alladin. Any ideas?
My background is also French, and I would love for them to have a french first or middle name. French suggestions are more than welcome!

Date: 2007-05-01 01:42 pm (UTC)Lily / Layla - Love these, even though I prefer the spelling Leila for the second.
Saphyre Skye - Too many Ys in one name. I don't like how Sapphire is spelled incorrectly. I don't like how it implies "blue sky." Sort of corny to me.
Scarlett Rose - I love both of these, but I'm not sure about them together, as it implies "red rose" and it sounds a teensy bit corny. But I love them separately.
Delilah - Indifferent.
Marley - Like.
Autumn - Love.
Cassiopeia - Between indifferent and like.
Amber / Ember / Emberlynn / Amberlynn / Anberlynn - I like Amber as a first and Lynn as a middle name but none of those other options.
Iris - Between indifferent and like.
Jayde / Jayden - Love Jade, dislike Jayde and Jayden.
Raine / Rayne - I don't like Raine, Rayne, or even just Rain. =\ It just reminds me of what an emo would name their child.
Shadeau ( French) / Shadow - Another name that evokes emo-ness.
Willow - Like.
Arwen - Love.
Aspen - Like.
Penny (Lane) - Fan of Almost Famous?
Apple (yea, people thought it was weird when Gwenyth did it...but I think it's beautiful. Apple of my eye.) - Lol hate.
Boys:
Orion - Like
Marley - Like on a girl
Leif /Leaf - Hmm.. indifferent.
Forrest - Reminds me of Forrest Gump.
Drake - Like
Damian - Hmm.. like.
River - Dislike.
Willow - Like on a girl.
Wolfgang - Lol noooo.
Ash - Like.
Atticus - Like.
Zephyr - It's the name of a perfume I have, so I'm not sure.
Xavier ( pronounced with the X....not like Havier) - Really like.

Date: 2007-05-01 01:48 pm (UTC)Here are some J names anyway, though!
Jack
James
John
Jasmine
Juliana
But still.. pick what you like, and if it isn't a J name, then so be it.

Date: 2007-05-02 02:29 pm (UTC)And the y's everywhere...I like different ways of spelling everything. I like things that are spelled uniquely.
Penny Lane...never seen almost famous. But it is a Beatles song. I just think the name Penny is really pretty, and Lane just flows after it in my head haha

Date: 2007-05-01 01:54 pm (UTC)As for a J name, have you considered Jasmina instead of Jasmine? Jocasta or Jordana, maybe? Just plain Jill is a nice name, I think.
For boys, Jareth, Japheth, or Joshua?

Date: 2007-05-01 02:11 pm (UTC)I know a kid named Forrest. He's a funny kid, but he moved to West Virginia (I live in New Jersey.)
I really love the name Scarlett, probably because I love Gone With The Wind, but nonetheless, I like it.
French names with j? For a girl, I like Josette, and Jocelyn, but that's not French. And I'm infatuated with Jacques, but it's kind of common.

Date: 2007-05-01 02:18 pm (UTC)Saphyre Skye - There's something..off about this name. The way Saphyre is spelled bothers me and the name itself seems a little corny.
Scarlett Rose - I like this name. I'm from the South..and it reminds me of a southern belle.
Delilah - I have never liked this name. Personally, I would hate my mother if she named me something like that - but to each his/her own.
Marley - I had never thought of using it as a first name, but it's actually kind of nice.
Autumn - Although I would never name my daughter Autumn, it's an absolutely beautiful name.
Cassiopeia - Just imagine the poor girl having to spell and pronounce her name for people.
Amber / Ember / Emberlynn / Amberlynn / Anberlynn - Amber and Amberlynn are fine, but I don't like the others.
Iris - Every time I hear this name I think of that GooGoo Dolls song..
Jayde / Jayden - I love the name Jayde, but I prefer to spell it without the y - and Jayden always struck me as a male name.
Raine / Rayne - Some people could pull it off, but most can't.
Shadeau ( French) / Shadow - I know a boy named Shadowhawk and people call him Shadow. It's just..more of a name for a dog than a person, in my opinion.
Willow - Not a big fan.
Arwen - Reminds of LoTR.
Aspen - Eh, it's okay.
Penny (Lane)- I never have liked the name Penny..
Apple (yea, people thought it was weird when Gwenyth did it...but I think it's beautiful. Apple of my eye.) - I would hate my mother if she named me after a fruit.
Boys:
Orion - It's okay.
Marley - I like this name, and I do think it's more fitting for a boy.
Leif /Leaf - I personally wouldn't like it or name my son that, but it's not terrible.
Forrest - I wouldn't go with that one.
Drake - It's okay.
Damian - I like it, but I've always seen it spelled Damien.
River - I never seriously took this as a name for a boy until I saw it on a TV show. It's alright.
Willow - Definitely not for a boy.
Wolfgang - ..no.
Ash - Reminds me too much of Pokemon. >.>
Atticus - I love this name.
Zephyr - Zephyr might be a bit weird for a boy..
Xavier ( pronounced with the X....not like Havier)- I like this name and have several friends with it as well.
