(no subject)

First Post! I am due in just a couple of weeks and we are _still_ arguing about names. We are having a little girl and so far the ONLY name we have 100% agreed on is Raven as her middle name. I like slightly unusual names, while he and his family prefer very old-fashioned names.

So far my suggestions have been :

Ariana Raven
Sedona Raven
Isabella Raven
Atalia Raven
Kitinia Raven
Sylphina Raven

His :
Sofia Raven
Sasha Raven

His family's :( They aren't fond of Raven as a middle name....
Garnet (pearl or ruby)
Arielle
Alexandra
Sarah

My first daughter is named Sierra Phoenix. So I think Sarah would just be too confusing.
What do you guys think?

i agree that Sierra & Sarah would be a little confusing. plus, in the future, a mix up for you guys. "Sierra! I mean, Sarah!" lol

Isabella is nice, but i don't like it so much with Raven.

& don't worry, we didn't settle on a name for our son until i was a week overdue.

I have a special place in my heart for the name Ariana.

However, with your first named Sierra.... I'm totally digging Sedona for this one. ;) Awesome.

I love using Phoenix and Raven as middle names. Very pretty.

I like Ariana, Sedona, and Kitinia. Arielle is nice, and Sofia's not my cup of tea, but it would be pretty.

Do all the names sound good with your last name?

There are a few of names on this list starting with S, ending with A. If you have a third daughter, will you feel like you have to continue the pattern?

Is popularity a consideration for you? Sofia, Alexandra and Isabella are very popular - Kitinia and Aitana are less so.

I think if you could narrow it down to a few, you could see what she looks like when she is born - more like an Arielle or more like an Isabella.

I think my favorites would be:

Sasha Raven
Sedona Raven
Isabella Raven
Sofia Raven

Sarah - definitely too close to Sierra.
Arielle/Ariana - would avoid these since they have the same
"air" sound as Sierra
Garnet - sounds odd with raven, since they both bring to mind colors.
Kitinia/Sylphina/Atalia - too unusual, since Sierra is such a popular name
Alexandra - too common and classic sounding, since Sierra is more popular/trendy

I like your husband's name choices the best... they are unique and feminine without being too elaborate (like Kitinia and stuff... not my style). Raven is a very cute name - I knew an adorable little girl named Raven. I like Sasha and Sofia the best.

My cousin named her daughters Sadie and Sophie, so I think the comments above about committing to a pattern are important to keep in mind... do you want to establish a pattern, or break it now so you don't have to continue it later on? I don't know what my cousin will do if she has another girl... Susie? Sarie? :)

I'm not sure if I like Sedona Raven or Raven Sedona. Both are gorgeous! (And match with Sierra's name!)

I love Sasha Raven!

I really like Atalia and Sasha with Raven as a middle name.

I really like Isabella Raven, Ariana Raven, Atalia Raven and Sofia Raven. I say if you like Raven as a middle name then use it. Everyone thinks all the names I picked for my son and soon to be daughter were weird but then they grew fond of them.

And I agree about the name Sierra and Sarah. My sister and I have that problem. I'm Jacky and she is Kathy. lol So when we didn't understand who was being called we would play paper rock scissors to see who would go and get introuble. ;P

my friend was going to name her daughter Kimberly Raven... but decided on Megan Elizabeth, once she was born....
quite frankly I like Kimberly Raven much better!!!
