[identity profile] sweetestangel.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
First Post! I am due in just a couple of weeks and we are _still_ arguing about names. We are having a little girl and so far the ONLY name we have 100% agreed on is Raven as her middle name. I like slightly unusual names, while he and his family prefer very old-fashioned names.

So far my suggestions have been :

Ariana Raven
Sedona Raven
Isabella Raven
Atalia Raven
Kitinia Raven
Sylphina Raven

His :
Sofia Raven
Sasha Raven

His family's :( They aren't fond of Raven as a middle name....
Garnet (pearl or ruby)
Arielle
Alexandra
Sarah

My first daughter is named Sierra Phoenix. So I think Sarah would just be too confusing.
What do you guys think?

I think my favorites would be:

Sasha Raven
Sedona Raven
Isabella Raven
Sofia Raven

Sarah - definitely too close to Sierra.
Arielle/Ariana - would avoid these since they have the same
"air" sound as Sierra
Garnet - sounds odd with raven, since they both bring to mind colors.
Kitinia/Sylphina/Atalia - too unusual, since Sierra is such a popular name
Alexandra - too common and classic sounding, since Sierra is more popular/trendy

I like your husband's name choices the best... they are unique and feminine without being too elaborate (like Kitinia and stuff... not my style). Raven is a very cute name - I knew an adorable little girl named Raven. I like Sasha and Sofia the best.

My cousin named her daughters Sadie and Sophie, so I think the comments above about committing to a pattern are important to keep in mind... do you want to establish a pattern, or break it now so you don't have to continue it later on? I don't know what my cousin will do if she has another girl... Susie? Sarie? :)
