My bf and I both like the nickname Ellie but we can't agree on what it should be short for...

I like the name Elise/Elyse, he likes Eleanor, neither of us like Elodie...

What names do you like that Ellie could be a nickname for?

Hopefully we'll find something we can both agree on...

Thanks in advance! :)

I was about to comment suggest Eliana, too. I've always loved that name. =)

You could even use Danielle or Arielle or something.

Also, definitely pick a long form that you love too, because you may find that you look at your baby and think, "oops, she's not an Ellie!". My parents named me Alissa and spelled it that way so that they & other people would call me Ali- but no one EVER has, they both said I just wasn't an Ali.

We were thinking of Elly Mae too. Mae is my mom's middle name. But, I couldn't get Almay cosmetics to stop coming to mind when I heard it. It's very pretty though if you don't have some weird connotation to it like I do. :)

We like Ellie too. We were thinging of the name Abrielle and using Ellie (but, we are not) You could use Gabrielle, Elliana, Elina, Ellian, Ellia.

You could just name her Ellie. :D

You can use a name that ends in el/ell/elle.
Arielle, Chanel, Danielle, Gabrielle, Isabelle, Michelle, Noelle, etc.

My friend Danielle's younger siblings call her Ellie.

Keep in mind that she may not always want to go by her nickname, so you should make sure the full name is something you like just as much.
I only go by Ellie to people who have known me since I was young or close friends and I always introduce myself as Eleanor.
A nickname is cute because it's familiar, but I think it's strange to have people you don't know calling you by your familiar name.
Just a thought.

Eloise, Ella, Eleanor, or Eleanora are my faves. But I also think it's fine to just name her Ellie or Elly without it being short for anything. On the same note, I like the name Abby, but I'm not crazy about Abigail :)

I think I especially like Eleanora, because I like Ellie and I like Nora :) I like both of them as names by themselves, but now that I think of it they would both be nice nicknames for Eleanora!

I know a little girl named Ellie who's just Ellie. I don't think it's too "fluffy" to last into adulthood--it's not like naming a boy Tommy as his full name.
