I plan on using family names that are very old fashioned but also unique when the time comes for my husband and I to start our family. But after a good deal of thought, I realized that most of my older relatvies have very different but great names. I was just wondering, what names do your grandparents (and their siblings/parents) have/had?

My mother's parents are Thur and Ellie (Thur was born on a Thursday, his father was a big jokester lol. Ellie is short for Elanore)
My father's parents are Orcutt and Carolyn (Orcutt is his mother's last name, though he goes by his middle name Calvin.)

Other older names in my family include:

I love Elanore with Ellie as a nn. Love it.

My paternal grandparents are Nelwyn (no middle name) and Leonce Innocence. Yes, Innocence as a middle name. My maternal grandparents are Virgina Susan and Kenneth (Ken) Donald. It's a shame, but I'm not very sure of any of my great grandparents names except for my paternal grandmother's mother...Hattibelle. :) That same grandmother also has a brother named Kermitt.

My mom's dad is Jack Vernon and his brother was Joe (not sure on mn) and sister was Alene.

My mom's mom is Eleanor Lee, her sisters are Martha and Gretchen.

My mom is Jacqueline Lee and her brother was William Henry S, II, named after her father's father.

My dad's mom was Amy Evelyn. I'm not sure of all of her siblings, but I know there was a Robert and a Dorothy.

My dad's dad was Alvey Sylvester. I don't know any siblings.

My dad was David Jean, and there are also Harold, Stanley and Louise.

DH's family has pretty bad names. His grandmothers were LaMerle and Lennie. His grandfathers were Sam and Edward (not bad). Edward was the fifth of seven kids; the first 4 had H names, then Edward, then JR (no name, just initials) and Erma Ruth, named after the first son's wife. Coincidentally there is another Erma Ruth on his dad's side.

Our kids are Jack Edward and Evelynn Lee. MIL's middle name is Lynn so that's where the extra N comes from. She's named after 5 people, so it's pretty cool.

I really like the name Parks.

JR....as in....no other name except JR? I wouldve figure he was a junior or something, but thats weird. My middle name is Lynn also, and I think it looks much better than just Lyn. Ive never heard the name Erma before, but I dont think I like it too much.

I do like the name Parks very much myself, but its my grandfather's brother and he isnt a very nice man lol.

My grandparents on my dad's side are Kathryn Sue (goes by Sue) and Leo (not sure if that was short for anything, he died when i was 4)

I love Elanor and I think Marion is so sweet! I worked at an eldery home and Evelyn was a very popular name (along with Adele). Cathrine is beautiful though, and its so versital.

Dad's parents: Anna Gertrude (Trudy) and Archie Elmer (Bill- no idea where he got the nickname)

Other older folks in my family: William, Darlton, Leonard, Geneva.

I like my Grandma Naomi's middle name, Grace- might use it as a middle name. I might use William as a middle name, and/or Anna as a middle name, as well.

My great-grandma was Aniela -- I've always thought it was such a pretty name, and I've never heard of anyone else with it. My other Polish great-grands were Waleria, Jozef and ... I forget my grandpa's dad's name, but he died when my mom was little. And my grandparents were baptized Genovefa (Sp?) and Stanislaus, though they used Genevieve and Stanley.

My (maternal) grandmother's parents were Hazel and Charlie and Hazel's sisters included (again, I don't know all of them) Grace and Maude.

my paternal GPs were Elizabeth Katherine (which will be the name of my first daughter) and Elza (pronounced Elzie) Thomas (but we've since found out his birth name was Thomas Eldridge... not sure where Elza came in, but tha'ts what he was called)

My materal GPs are Clifford Earl and Doris Jean (Jean will somehow be used in my second daughter if I ever have one.)

My paternal grandparents: Paul and Mary-Agnes AGAIN (but she goes by Betty).

I don't know how Betty and June came from Mary-Agnes, but there you go. We don't have any family names on either side, although my sister's middle name is June so I suppose that's for my mum's mum. Or it could be that we were born in June. Who knows?
