Opinions, please

We have some friends who now have two daughters: Hannah Kathleen and Addison Rebecca.

They kept both names a SECRET until the birth announcements went out. When Hannah's came, I was totally unimpressed and kind of disappointed. I thought it was the most boring name EVER to have been such a big secret. I don't like Hannah OR Kathleen (though the little girl makes up for it she's so durn cute!). I LOVE the name Addison though, and I like Rebecca just fine, but I'm not sure they go together that well...all in all I thought Addison was more worthy of surprising everyone.

Im personally keeping all names under wraps until they actually arrive. Just because Im pretty set on names, and its really just a decision between my husband and I. I dont want the input of family and friends, and I can only imagine how vocal they'll be about it all.

I think Id be throwing them a bone letting them know the gender, lol.

The names just don't "go together," IMO. I think that all siblings should have names of the same overall "type," like all classic names, all trendy names, etc. To me, Hannah and Addison just seem to clash, because it violates that last thought - Hannah is classic, and Addison trendy.

Oh well...to each their own, right?

Hannah may be overused to the point of boring, but it's still a nice name. I hate Addison.

I don't like either one. I wanted to keep Rory's name a secret until she was born but Jason couldn't keep his mouth shut and I figured if he's gonna tell everyone I get to too.

I've always loved the name Hannah.. and it's ok with Kathleen.

I have a Rebecca Madison.. so the addison rebecca is kinda a guilty pleasure name for me! hehe :)

I'm keeping our baby's name a secret too. My husband and I really don't want to hear anyone's opinions about a name that we thought long and hard about. I mean, we are not going to change our mind about it and if they say anything negative about it, it will just make me mad..so why go through the drama? I kept my son's name a secret too and everything went perfectly :) However, we did tell his family the gender (a girl).
Personally, I love the name Hannah, although it is just way too popular for my tatse (I try to stay away from the top 10 names) but I was never a big fan of the name Addison. It just doesn't sound very feminine to me.

Addison is hardly unique, though. I find it rather overused, masculine, and trendy. I like Hannah Kathleen a lot more.

Most people keep their baby's name a "secret" just so it's a little surprise (or, in some cases, so parents and grandparents don't harass them about the name choice for months, and then by the time the name is announced, it's "too late" and no one can give them shit about what's already done). I don't know many people who would keep it a secret because they think the name is, like, SUPR SEKRIT and SOOOO UNIQUE AND AMAZING. They keep it a secret for the element of surprise, not because the name they chose is any more noteworthy than any other name in the world.

We have a girl's name in mind, but we're not telling people what it is. It's just a regular, pretty, nice name, not SECRET, yet we're keeping it under wraps. For several reasons.
