okay, if we have a boy, we will be naming him Edward.

people are already calling him (even though, we dont know what we are having- everyone just thinks its a boy, lol) Eddy/Eddie.

Which do you prefer, Eddy or Eddie?  

I think the "ie" is very girl, so I prefer it with a Y, but the husband likes the IE.  So I am curious to what you all think!



and unrelated, this just entered my head this morning...

the nick name Ace.  I think Ace...like the player card, and then think #1.  So to me...it's a nickname you give to someone who is number 1 at something.  Lol.  What do you think?

Eddie. Eddy looks like a girl to me, like they were being cre8ive with Edie.

I like Ace, but nicknames like that should be given by friends, not family. It seems like naming your daughter "Princess" to me.

oh im not naming anyone ace, i was wondering who the nick name would go to...

like i mentioned, someone who was #1 at something is what i think of.

like a nick name you'd give a teammate on a sports team or something.

Hmmm, that's hard. I look at both and think they look 'right.' I guess Eddie.

Ace is kind of cool...but it does sound more like a nickname...or a dog name.

Eddy is a word... my uncle goes by Eddie. Edwards usually end up as just plain "Ed"s though.

Eddie. Every Eddy I know, most of them female or last names, pronounces Eddy as 'E-D'.

How do you feel about the nn? I personally don't like it and would call my son Edward. I'm trying to steer away from names with nicknames that I don't like because my husband's family likes to shorten everything. Edward is a possible middle name for hypothetical future son and is also my husband's middle name.

i LOVE Edward and I plan on calling him (if its a him, of course!) only Edward.

im not sure if it bothers me or not about him being called Eddie...but i do know...I preffer Eddie to Ed any day!

and maybe when people notice that we only call him Edward, all the nick-namers will follow suit? we'll see!

On a side note. My grandpa's nickname was Ace. I didn't even know his real name until about 2 years ago and he's been dead for a long time. But it was close: Asa

My granddad is called Edward (actually, that's his middle name, but I haven't got a clue what his first name is as everyone calls him Edward), and he goes by Ed, Eddie, or Ace ;)

I'm also jumping on the Eddie bandwagon...I dunno why you'd think it was girly, unless you were thinking of "Edie"? *shrugs*
