i think i've added a new name to my list:

Reuben Gray
or
Ruben Gray

(Gray is after a man I knew - his name was not Gray but it still reminds me of him)

I think i'd use the nickname Ben.

WDYT?

If someone uses the nickname "Ben" for their kid, it makes me think that the kid's full first name is Benjamin.

I know a guy named Bert, and I always thought his first name was Bertram or sometihng similar. Never would "Robert" have crossed my mind.

I don't think I'd have made the connection, either!

I need more sleep... I thought your icon was some sort of sandwich, and the comment probably didn't help!

I've never heard of Reuben sandwiches as I'm not from the States, and without any associations I just think it's a lovely name.

I'm not from the US either, so I don't have this apparent sandwich association. I think it's a great name (spelled Reuben), although I don't like Ben as a nickname.

I have always liked the name Reuben, and once it was even my favourite, although lately I have decided it doesn't really "fit" with me enough to use it and it's slowly decreasing in my preferences. I still like it though.

That being said, I have a second cousin called Reuben who goes by Ben, and he's probably in his late 20s.

I really like Reuben. Not keen on Ben, though.

I am from the US, and personally did not associate it with the sandwich. :)
