I usually like really traditional, NOT popular names (and I don't mean like Caitlin or Jordan or Isabella, I mean Anne and Mary and Margaret and Jane). I have always planned on naming my first daughter Anne; it takes a LOT for anything to usurp that name to me. But yesterday I came across this song by the band Cotton Mather (it was played in the first season finale of Veronica Mars, for any VM fans), called Lily Dreams On. It sounds a lot like the Beatles. It's so pretty, and the lyrics mention both my name and my husband's:
Lily I hope you think of
Me in your dreams
Put down your King James Bible
You don't need no kings
Close your eyes
Baby I'll close mine
Echoes through the foam
Far from this,
Lily dreams on.
Think back to fields of Catherine
You used to play
I swore I heard you laughing
And almost say:
"Pull your mirrors down
Take away the glass
And let the past be gone."
Far from this,
Lily dreams on.
So now I'm thinking that Lily V_______ would be such a cute name, or even Elisabeth, nn Lily. What do you think? Are any of you named for songs?

Date: 2007-03-21 09:32 am (UTC)I think it's a sweet song which would give extra significance to her name she might appreciate when she's older,
and what kid wouldn't want their own song?
My name was inspired by the Bob Dylan song Sara, though my parents preferred the spelling with a silent h.
I think it suits me :):
"Sara, Sara,
So easy to look at, so hard to define...
Sara, oh Sara,
Glamorous nymph with an arrow and bow..."
