Lily?

I usually like really traditional, NOT popular names (and I don't mean like Caitlin or Jordan or Isabella, I mean Anne and Mary and Margaret and Jane). I have always planned on naming my first daughter Anne; it takes a LOT for anything to usurp that name to me. But yesterday I came across this song by the band Cotton Mather (it was played in the first season finale of Veronica Mars, for any VM fans), called Lily Dreams On. It sounds a lot like the Beatles. It's so pretty, and the lyrics mention both my name and my husband's:

Lily I hope you think of
Me in your dreams
Put down your King James Bible
You don't need no kings

Close your eyes
Baby I'll close mine
Echoes through the foam

Far from this,
Lily dreams on.

Think back to fields of Catherine
You used to play
I swore I heard you laughing
And almost say:

"Pull your mirrors down
Take away the glass
And let the past be gone."

Far from this,
Lily dreams on.

So now I'm thinking that Lily V_______ would be such a cute name, or even Elisabeth, nn Lily. What do you think? Are any of you named for songs?

If I had a daughter I'd consider Elise, due to the cure.

I think that's adorable.

I'm named after that really cheesy Barry Manillow song called "Mandy."

Also, I've thought about naming my daughter Iris because of the song by the Goo Goo Dolls.

My name Michelle is from the Beatles song (Michelle, Ma Belle). I always thought of using other names from Beatles songs (Jude and Lucy for example - from "Hey Jude" and "Lucy in the sky with diamonds"). But we're naming our little boy after daddy instead. But I still think it's a cute idea.

I love Lily by the way :)

Meh - I'm not worried about "trendy" anymore. It seems like any good names lately have been becoming "trendy" lol.

I Love Lily and I love Anne! They would actually make really cute names for sisters, imo. :)

I think they're all great names :). Elisabeth nn Lily is adorable, and if she doesn't like Lily when she's older (I don't know why, though, it's a great name, but hypothetically lol), there are so many other nickname options.

Lily/Lili is one of my absolute favorite names- there's also a Smashing Pumpkins song called "Lily (my one and only)" that I LOVE.

I'm planning on using it as a nickname for Lilith.

I prefer just Lily like the song instead of Elisabeth although that's a nice name too.
I think it's a sweet song which would give extra significance to her name she might appreciate when she's older,
and what kid wouldn't want their own song?

My name was inspired by the Bob Dylan song Sara, though my parents preferred the spelling with a silent h.
I think it suits me :):
"Sara, Sara,
So easy to look at, so hard to define...

Sara, oh Sara,
Glamorous nymph with an arrow and bow..."

Sara is my all-time favourite Bob Dylan song. It's so beautiful! My mum's name is Sara, otherwise I would consider naming my daughter that. Your parents are super cool!

I'm soooo sick of Lily. It's EVERYWHERE. I like Anne better.

I love Lily, but it is VERY popular.

If I have a boy his middle name is going to be Daniel - from the Elton John song :)

Man, that song... okay, aside from the fact that it made me cry the first time I watched 'Leave It To Beaver' (s1 of Veronica Mars is, to me, a paragon of television, and that dream sequence is SO SAD), could the singer sound anymore like John Lennon than he does? It's so strange (in a good way).

Anyway, I really do like the name Lily/Lilly. I think naming someone after a song is such a beautiful idea. I would name my daughter Sara after the Bob Dylan song, except it's my mum's name.
